Big brother doesn't like you having hounds to tree a bear.

Imagine if they knew about coyote hunting with greyhounds or hog dogs.

How exactly will the feds enforce this? FBI going to confiscate your duck dog? I'm sure it's only for federal land, but will make bear and cougar hunts more challenging.

"It shall be unlawful to conduct open field coursing or live lure training with the use of any bait that is not an inanimate object".

This law is unenforceable. People that hunt with dogs do so in counties where zero juries are going to convict for a federal hunting dog crime.

This is all a waste of time and money, and a way to let the feds harass harmless responsible people.

Yeah...

At this point I just live a moral life that doesn't effect anyone else. If anything I do such as hunt with dogs is breaking the law, then they can go **** themselves and come and get me. This isn't a concern of mine.

Respectfully disagree. Having hunted and fished with guides for many years, these guys follow the rules. They are not willing to see their entire livelihood go up in smoke for one mistake.

How do you stop this psychopath from hunting? He goes outside with me and trees squirrels starting at 5am while
I workout in the garage. He stands here all day eyeing the tree lines waiting for a squirrels, deer, turkey to show itself and depending on the noise that comes out of him I know exactly what it is.

He'd choose death over not hunting.

This is a good point.

Hunting guides might have more reservations.

The language of that bill makes it clear that it only applies to greyhounds moved interstate for the purpose of commercial greyhound racing. It's not a ban on working dogs.

Open field coursing and live lure training are also defined in that bill in how it relates to racing events. If people are that worried about it they can just amend it to slap "for the purposes of greyhound racing" at the end.

Depends on how live lure training and open field coursing are defined/interpreted. The text of the bill doesn't appear to define them, which could lead to a broad interpretation.

as I understand it, the proposed bill affects land coursing only and not upland bird hunting.

No more quail hunting? Pop's pointer would be disappointed and if he'd have had a setter it would be upset. Have these folks have no concern for the rights of dogs?
