I still have some Penzeys bottles from way back when but the labels are long gone and they are replaced with Penderys stuff. I make a trip to the FW store about once every 3 months or so. Pretty sure you can order/have shipped.

I remember back during the GW Bush administration how he caught so much heat because the government wasn't doing enough to help those less fortunate people in America. The administration response was that government entitlement programs are very inefficient use of government funds because of the overhead (not to mention the corruption). I didn't disagree. Their solution was to provide grants and supports to charitable orgs who were allegedly much more efficient and mission-driven to help those in need. Naive me believed this was a noble solution.

As with so many things over the years I have learned that, as sure as the sun rises every morning in the east, government funding just creates massive bloat, waste, and corruption. It doesn't matter - education, public works, military, public welfare. EVERY DAMN TIME we end up uncovering corruption.

I guarantee you she went on at least 6 week-long international travel junkets - all first class and all staying at the ritz Carlton (or whatever). Plus their benefits program is likely solid gold and cost another 40-50k/year. By the time you add in a really generous "networking" budget (company money to eat at Michelin star restaurants and drink $250/bottle wine 3 times a week) this lady was probably north of $500k all in.

I've met many of these kinds of people over the years in my international travel. They are the most slick brained people I have ever encountered. No sense of responsibility or accountability making tons of money off our tax dollars.

The entire DC area is filled with these types of folks, making huge salaries working for think tanks, lobbying groups, trade associations, NGOs, etc., etc.

It's like a real-life Hunger Games. At least they aren't making those of us in the districts fight each other. Yet.

because the indoctrination from academia and the bureaucracies that provide the funding to their "NGOs" enable the socialist mindset to set in and convince them they are doing great work for society. I've said it before, but when the best "get rich quick" schemes in your country are either becoming a politician or a bureaucrat, or learning how to scam for government grants, to the point that those are more lucrative than entrepreneurship, innovation, or even just hard work at a company in a capitalist system, you might be too far down the socialist revolutionary path.
