I would imagine it had to do with the fact this is a hotel, with many rooms that someone could stay in a week beforehand. Metal detectors likely had to be closer to the ballroom.

you really want to stand by that?

we don't know the exact layout of the security and you are not making any sense. Let's see what comes out in the next few days. But magnetometers too far from the area you are looking to protect are not helpful.

Regardless of the layout or the amount of room you have to operate in, if you are serious about security, you address things such that nobody gets close enough with a gun to be a threat. If you cannot secure the location, hold the event somewhere that you can.

how close did he get? Has that been published? I'm not saying everything was planned or executed perfectly, but I've seen nothing about how close he got to the ball room. Just a bunch of smart guys on here who are screaming "disaster"

No rational person would think to survive such a thing. Which is also the absolute worse case scenario for security.

Dude was moving. A couple of things lining up just right for him and he could have gotten shots off into the ballroom. Well aimed shots? Nah, but someone desperate enough could think they could get close enough to spray at least a couple of bullets in POTUS's general direction and get lucky.

Apparently reports are that he assembled the gun on site. My guess is maybe a 3D printed weapon?

But apparently from what POTUS is saying is he wasn't that close and apparently didn't get thru too many layers of security.

See my post above with the floorplan. It looks like the magnetometers were set up right where guests would turn left after coming off the central elevator bank. That hallway runs to the area where the stairs down to the ballroom are located. It doesn't look to me like he came off the elevators, but was farther down the hall. After watching it again, it looks like he did come from the elevator bank.

Seems I read or heard discussion long ago that we in USA don't need assassinations or attempts to our presidents and even former presidents because other countries view this as weakness ., as cracks in foundation of our country.
These guys who do this and those who spew the rhetoric are ones who are brainwashed or are agents of those wanting not Trump out, but the complete overthrow of our government.
