How this idiot got this close is a big question
He was at the entrance right before the metal detectors
he was already INSIDE the hotel before being stopped at the magnetometers
so he already got down a flight of stairs near to the Ballroom
that should not be allowed to happen to get through a few rings of security
Why? It would make sense the metal detectors would be the stop that reveals the firearms. Are you saying they needed an outer layer that also includes metal detectors? So that everyone goes through metal detectors twice?
have you ever been to a FOOTBALL GAME?!!
are the magnetomoters inside the stadium- or OUTSIDE the stadium!?!
so we have better security at the Washington Commanders game than where the PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT and most of the Cabinet were all in one room.
I would imagine it had to do with the fact this is a hotel, with many rooms that someone could stay in a week beforehand. Metal detectors likely had to be closer to the ballroom.
so in Washington DC during a war with Iran
they can't come up with 12 magnetometers at two different locations?
in a country of 320 million people.
you really want to stand by that?
we don't know the exact layout of the security and you are not making any sense. Let's see what comes out in the next few days. But magnetometers too far from the area you are looking to protect are not helpful.

how close did he get? Has that been published? I'm not saying everything was planned or executed perfectly, but I've seen nothing about how close he got to the ball room. Regardless of the layout or the amount of room you have to operate in, if you are serious about security, you address things such that nobody gets close enough with a gun to be a threat. If you cannot secure the location, hold the event somewhere that you can.

What an idiot to think he could get through all the security checkpoints with a gun. Just shows you how stupid he is.

Welp, that pretty much explains everything. Lone wolf sprinter.
ETA: Could also explain the non lethal apprehension of him. He went straight down the middle. Crazy crossfire situation. Extremely reluctance to mag dump at that point.
