There were cases in Argentina in 1996 that AI says were the first proven examples of human to human transmission.

50% fatality rate.

So this thing has been capable of human to human transmission for 30 years and has a 50% fatality rate? How are any of us still alive?

One, it's still up for debate.

Two, an infectious disease with a mortality rate that high generally makes people too sick and kills them too fast for it to be widely transmissible. Combine that with a pathogen that lacks robust transmission virulence factors and it's never going to result in widespread transmission.

Unless Fauci and his boys decided to do some gain of function research on it "just in case".

COVID at its worst had an overall mortality two orders of magnitude lower than that, and coronaviruses are inherently FAR more transmissible person to person than hantavirus.

Next time ask AI for its source and post that. Instead of telling us all what "AI says"

Eric76 posted the link to the study and summarized it.

That is a decent point but that was a case of animal to human transmission and not human to human, correct?

NYT summary of current situation:

Quote:

Three people have died. At least seven other people who were on the ship have fallen ill or tested positive, health officials said.

  • One is in France. The person tested positive and her condition is deteriorating.
  • Another person who tested positive is in Nebraska.
  • One man is in intensive care in Johannesburg.
  • The ship's doctor was "stable in isolation" after being evacuated to the Netherlands.
  • A man who was a guide on the ship was also stable and in isolation in the Netherlands.
  • A man who disembarked at St. Helena is hospitalized and in isolation in Switzerland.
  • The health authorities in Britain said on Friday that a British citizen, who had been onboard and disembarked on Tristan da Cunha, was suspected to have the virus. On Sunday, the British military executed a parachute mission to bring oxygen and experts to the remote island.

By today all passengers and some crew members will have been taken off the ship. The ship will continue to Rotterdam with 32 crew members, where it will be disinfected.

In late April, about 30 people from at least 12 countries also left the ship in St. Helena. That was more than a week before the first confirmed case of the virus was reported. The company has said it contacted the people who disembarked in St. Helena.

There are many things about genetics that I find fascinating. One of them is when two attractive people procreate and pop out ugly kids, which is quite common.

Who measures their dick-size in radius, my guy? I know you're a doctor, but...

seriously, do they measure by radius now? I thought length and circumference would do it justice.

Does it take out fats and olds like Covid?

Hard to find info specifically on the Andes variant as it is far less common but there is a general 40% mortality for the hantavirus across ALL age groups. General hantavirus is considered more common among 20-60yos but that is primarily because the stats are based on the rodent to people variants and people 20-60 make up the working class that would be more likely to be exposed.

So it's a hoax just like last time. Got it.

Are we still ignoring the fact that it's difficult to transmit Hauntavirus human-to-human except for inhaling infected rodent droppings or being exposed to those who were for exposed to the infected for extended periods of time?

If we are going to go off of monkey-pox infection transmission messaging, there's clearly nothing to be done about it. (There was, and we know what it was at the time, but no one had the gumption to say it out loud)

But the monkeypox epidemic was only covered tersely until it was found that certain types of sex transmitted it and then when young children started to get it, that messaging completely disappeared, somehow.

Not just masks, but she demands to know if anyone entering her courtroom has diarrhea.
