NYC will drag the state down with them, circling in the toilet bowl.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

My only problem is that ultimately they'll go to federal government for a bailout and the rest of us tax payers will be responsible for the bill. If a state government is too big to fail it means the net tax payers are ultimately slaves to Commie Mamdani's spending even though we live in completely different states.

Travel through some of the other towns in upstate. I remember going through Rochester and seeing what deindustrialization and immigration has down to a place like that. Nice hotel down town... tons of security, even on the floors. Why? They had rented whole floors to the government to house immigration. First time I've ever seen school busses picking up kids at a major chain hotel. Crazy.

This will take away from the rest of the state, and they'll be damned because they don't out weight NYC.

Just 4 billion? That will last for about a month.

Help me understand….

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani unveiled a budget that closes a $12 billion inherited deficit with no property tax increase and no major service cuts, while adding a first-ever pied--terre tax on luxury second homes worth over $5 million.

So a tax that they estimate to generate $500 million plus a $4 billion handout from the state….is going to wipeout a $12 billion deficit? How?

The "inherited deficit" is really an increase in spending from the previous year's budget.

The reason why they never learn is because they are so addicted to their woke ideology and living in an unrealistic world. Recently, even these type of people will admit that it's unrealistic, but it's the thought that counts.

Unfortunately

Has anyone asked for details? He is saying it's balanced but how without cutting spending and raising taxes? They must have moved a lot of spending "off the books"
Who?mikejones!

Oh, yes, the details are out there. He got an 8 billion dollar bail out and slashed pensions.

So, no, he didn't close the gap, he transferred it to new Yorkers living outside the city and screwed pensioners and is raising taxes on second homes.

I think that 5 million is a misprint and should be 5 billion. That puts them at 9 billion, and he's within a few billion of closing the gap that he'll have to either cut from services or raise more local revenue.

The whole thing is a sham of course. Going to enjoy my popcorn as NYC drives themselves into the ditch of their own making.

The pension side of the issue is just lighting the wick on a time bomb. For the party of the "workers" I've always found this hilarious to be a card they love to play in budget decisions.
