Actually, I think this confirms (as if we didn't know) that the Mayor of NYC has more power than the Governor of NY state.

And that's a structural problem.

Imagine living in Utica or the Finger Lakes district or any Upstate area knowing that even more of your tax monies are going to bail out the money pit known as NYC!

Mamdani is lying to you. He didn't turn a $12B budget deficit to $0.

Can't remember the specifics right now but that is true. There is a quirk in NY law wherein NYC is exempt from County and even state control as we would usually see in the hierarchy governing municipalities.

Back during covid, Cuomo could quarantine New Rochelle, New York but not a single borough in NYC. Only the mayor could do that.

Budget FY25----$850B. Spending $862B
Deficit = $12B


Budget FY26----$920B. Projected outlays $920B.
Deficit Gone.
