The Democrats in Texas have a real problem. After Ann Richards was booted no one at the state level could provide enough patronage to really unite the 3 core ethnic machines in Texas (which all vie with and hate each other) with the hippies turned leftist wackjobs and the suburban divorcees/single moms.

This means that you get tepid or Luke warm support if the candidate is not from your region especially for statewide office. Additionally quite a few moderate donor class types got coopted by the Hutchinson/Bush machine and wont switch because they wont get legislative/regulatory favors if they do so.

This means that while they can fundraise large amounts of money, and outside a few union backed jobs that they can parcel out, there is no structure powerful enough to wrangle the Harris/Dallas black machines with thr San Antonio/Valley Hispanic machine while being able to pick up enough elsewhere to win. Allred had tepid official support in Houston and organizationally was weak in the West and South. Talarico isn't going to appeal to black urban voters or Hispanic voters. And less so the machines. Unless its a major wave, he's a non starter and the lack of statewide enforcer leadership will doom the Dems again.

This beta has ZERO chance. News outlets just trying to make news. Nothing to see here. Paxton will win by 8

You've got a university there. Filling a 200 or 300 seat room to capacity for a popular democrat is nothing. You've got enough democrats there regardless that he'd probably draw that crowd without the university, but talaricos people are smart enough to hold rallies in small venues so it will always be overflowing to the social media and regular media view.

Beto drew a big crowd there too. Gina hinajosa just filled a room in nac to capacity, albeit a bit smaller.
