Not good at all, I agree. Is this the same as the illegals killing and raping? How about Muslims trying to take over and, not just live here, but bring their version of Sharia law here?

Indians are the same?

I wouldn't go that far. We just don't need them here in the numbers we've imported them. There is a ton of fraud and scam with the entire process with them as well.

And they also do not assimilate.

So how do we keep American companies from bringing them over solely because they profit off of their cheaper labor?

JFC, I swear I've said that regarding immigration of Mexicans and others from Latin America before.

Shut down the various visa programs they use to bring them here. It's really f'ing maddening.

WSJ did an analysis on this and since 2020ish, Big Tech has laid off ~400k Americans while simultaneously bringing in ~360k Indians.

Straight replacement. We don't need them.

Yep, shut off the visa spigot. Companies will still send work there, but I'm not concerned about that work. They'll save a few bucks, get subpar work, and life will go on.

Those companies putting sheer greed against the best interests of Americans. Why am I not surprised.

I'll go look up that WSJ article now. Thanks.

I'm an American of Indian descent and agree with the following:

Terrible at keeping up with property
The CDL sham is horrendous
Modern day Indians don't assimilate well to the west

All that said, India is an ally in a part of the world where we could use some capitalist allies. For those of you calling them backwards and 3rd World, you may not have a clue how far the society has come in the last 40 years. Modern day condos look not different than the ones you see here. AC is everywhere now - trust me that's a big deal.

Yep, you'll see the raw sewage and disease in the villages of you get out of the metro areas. It's still a very raw experience in that regard.

All that said, there are things said here that just cross the line.

Alluding to how people smell. Is it an issue? Sure, but you're coming from a place that's considered to be the cleanest in the world. I went to boarding school in England and was only allowed to change underwear 2 times a week.

You can't keep lumping Indian immigrants in with the Muslims and border crossers. These are not the same people.

Indians are not dumb. Lots of successful business owners, not to mention the doctors, engineers, etc. I would bet their pre college kids are way better at STEM than Americans.

Lastly, this visa stuff... hate the game, not the player. It's our own damn government that has allowed this. What did you expect an Indian to say? "No thanks, I don't know how to cut my lawn so I'll pass..."

Flame away.

Needs another star before the flaming, especially because you rightfully highlighted that it's our government at the root of this.

Yeah I think its important to take a step back and try to separate criticism of the policy from criticism of the people. I think there are a lot of valid criticisms of H1-B, that it is being used more for wage suppression than to address actual labor shortcomings. But let's please acknowledge that the people coming over on those visas are just taking advantage of a good opportunity. They are not invaders; they have been invited by their employers and by our government. They are our guests. I would have hoped this "they are aliens, they are dirty, and I want them the f out of my neighboorhood" kind of rhetoric could've remained a relic of the past.

They are guests of corrupt policies, they are not "our" guests. They add little if anything of value to communities. No one wants them here except the powers that be looking for cheap labor.

They are our guests.

Guests don't take over your house, run you out of town, then invite all their brothers and cousins and grandparents to move into your place.

The cronyism, fraud and downright deceptive hiring practices that we see across multiple industries today have destroyed job prospects for hundreds of thousands of citizens -- or more -- and especially young graduates. They've done more than take advantage of the invitation to come here; they've manipulated the rules to benefit their own people at the expense of Americans.

I agree with most of what njohn87 says and I work and live among some very awesome people from India, but as a group it's undeniable that they do openly discriminate (remember, they are not that far removed from the caste system), they do take jobs from capable American citizens who attend same or better insitutions, and they do commit, at a massive scale, credential/visa fraud.

The lie about how we "can only achieve this success with Indians" is complete nonsense. There are hungry, young, talented Americans that should be preferred over Indians in almost every case.

Sure, bring the talent here, if you cant find it domestically. But offering H1-Bs for pickleball instructors? That's absolutely insane and completely not what the visa was created for in the first place.

Due Process is nothing more than "your H-1B visa has been revoked and you are subject to deportation". Yes it's that easy and it's according to our law and provides for sufficient due process through the application and revocation process.

If it were that simple, Stephen Miller would have had Trump do it on day 1. Why haven't we seen mass deportations of H1Bs to date? That says it's far more complicated than a simple notice.

I worked with GenPact in the mid oughts and also fully understand the issues and inefficiencies and the failure in most all instances to maintain same standards at a reduced costs.

I am also aware of more recent successes of outsourcing to Latin America and the Philippines and similar.

Well, it doesn't help when the Indian academic scene is a known, prolific diploma mill. When I would hire for analyst and tech roles on my team here is the breakdown of resumes I got and it was extremely consistent in this regard. For every 10 resumes it would be:

7 - Indians with Masters or Doctorates from Hyderabad
2 - Chinese with Master or Doctorates from wherever
1 - American with Bachelors

My son did an Engineering masters and his class had several Indians in it. The prof would remind the students to not cheat before the test was handed out because they did. My son said they didn't have enough knowledge to be in the program. Schools take these international students to charge the maximum tuition amount.

Or, it's intentionally being avoided.

At the very minimum, Trump and others in DC (not Dems, obviously) could be clamoring for this to get done like they did immigration and ICE.

If an EO can't be done, and the GOP doesn't have the votes, they could at least pretend to put up a fight. That is, assuming they actually want change.

Anyone else notice that aside from ICE raids nothing is being brought up to try and change immigration legislation so the next republican POTUS doesn't have to clean up the left's illegals mess again in the future?

Having a lot of available housing to attract HQs moving from blue cities like Seattle, Portland and LA is a good thing.
