You don't have to lie.

Average price of gas in Texas was $2.70 on 2/27 per google.

$3.09 is 14% higher.

I paid $2.02 for gas the week before Trump's war with Iran. That same place is $3.39.

I'm not a math genius, but that looks like it might be a little more than 50% more than before. And that gas station is thirty cents cheaper than most other places in town.

Prices have remained down because the world has tapped strategic reserves. This needs to wrap up in 6 weeks or so. If not we won't have reserves and prices will sky rocket.

If every country that has them is tapping their reserves are the only reason prices are down-ish, and not because of anything else, then, I'm sure Trump will find a way to say the war is over, leave that region, so prices of gas and diesel everything related to them, will start going down.

And if not, maybe Trump really doesn't care. I mean, we've been "two weeks, two weeks" from the greatest deal in the history of deals, so Trump has three chances to get it done before the six week time frame comes.

$3.289 for regular, by me, in SA.

Still a lot more than pre-Iran.

I paid $2.15 before the war started

Now I am paying $3.40, which is better than it was but still a far cry from $2.15

To have a shot at the house, and to make the senate a for sure thing, he needs to get the national average down to $3.00 or lower

If he can get the national average down to $2.75 or so than we have a tremendous shot at keeping the house, right now we sit at 211 seats predicted, only need to hold them and win 7 of the 19 toss ups

All that I know is what I read in the papers. I read in the papers that we're going into hurricane season with refined product inventories at a point that is 10-15% below their 5-year average.

What could possibly go wrong?

Gas at $3.29 is certainly nothing to celebrate but gas coming down in June (a historically high month) is worth celebrating. Get below $3 before July and the midterms will forget about gas prices. Especially with the border closed and illegals getting smaller and smaller!

Is this more politically correct than deporting them? We just shoot them with lasers to make them tiny?

Trump apparently chose who he wanted to listen to and ignore others. He obviously planned on this being over with Iran fast. All we heard at first was ahead of schedule etc. He obviously chose the wrong advisors. Not only that but they may have purposely misled him because they likely knew nothing was going to be accomplished in a short time frame.

Oil just tumbled to $87 a barrel

I'm old enough to remember when the leftists told me oil would be $157 in July.

that was two months ago.

I never pay much attention to gas prices, I know not to buy in more remote areas with little competition or near intersections of major freeways. Recently, I think I saw I was paying about 80 cents at a station near my house. Thats per quart though.

Been discussed ad nauseam on other threads but the global drawdown of storage have kept physical shortages from materializing. Storage drawdowns have limits. Eventually math happens and real physical shortages follow. That's when you see a sudden spike in price. The paper markets and future contracts are still baking in the idea of a long-term agreement taking place and the strait fully opening sooner rather than later.

We have not hit the point yet of real physical shortages and thankfully it seems we've been able to run out around 100 million barrels of oil from Hormuz in the last month in addition to the alternate pipelines.

We've been able to kick the can down the road and hopefully there's resolution soon so a physical shortage doesn't happen.

Good.

Now to see that price not go back up, and stay go further down, so prices can go back to where they used to be.

I mean, there's no way prices will go back up in a few days or weeks because of iran I'm sure.

It's silly season to speculate about gas prices tomorrow/next week.

So I guess I'd go with 'lower.' This afternoon anyway, subject to what is posted later tonight.

the only relevance 2022 gas prices have to today's gas prices is that maybe trump saw putin start a stupid war he couldn't win which spiked global prices and thought to himself "wow i should do that too"

If you have a Valero easy pay card, you can get it for around $3.25 in Tomball

Anyone know why Valero always has cheaper gas than Chevron, Exxon and Shell?

And of course it never occurs to you for a moment that the change in US gas prices from 2021 to 2022 has far more to do with the cancellation of oil leases for exploration and extraction on federal land, the cancellation of Keystone XL pipeline, the ridiculous increase in CAFE standards, and the subsidies to electric vehicles that the Biden autopen enacted.

For context, the Feb 27, 2022 gas price posted above was largely unaffected by Putin's invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24, 2022. The 36% year over year jump in gas prices from 2021 was all the result of the insane Green New Deal BS that Biden's puppet master foisted upon America.

NE TN / SW VA today it's as low as $3.41 and as high as $3.76 for 87 octane. That's all stations within a roughly 10 mile box.

It's an El Nino year which usually pushes hurricanes away from the Gulf of America.

Who put these numbers out? Im not seeing anywhere advertising below 3$ a gallon today... id like to know where these places are that can offset gas still averaging 3.35 a gallon here, and many other places( plus California skewing rhe line at 5$ a gallon...)

Gas hasn't been under $5/gal in California for some time.
In fact, it's slowly creeping back down under $6.

Earlier this week, I paid:
  • $6.25 in Burbank on Monday (87 Octane - rental car).
  • $3.97 in Texas City on Tuesday (93 Octane - my BMW)

Gas today in Orange County was $5.53, and that was across the road from John Wayne airport so it's likely lower elsewhere.

It's better than it should be because China is importing substantially less than before the war. Add 3MM barrel demand back to the market and the price per barrel would be substantially higher.

Trump should be thanking XI.
