Lots to unpack here:

Man A takes his daughters into women's restroom

Man B flips his lid on Man A. Of course this is captured on video.

Man B gets fired from his job.

As the father of a girl, it would never have occurred to me to go into the women's restroom with her when she was a young kid even though men's restrooms are gross, especially in gas stations (except Buccees).

Does having a kid give you a free pass into the women's restroom? I can't tell in the video if this is a single stall restroom.

Should common sense prevail? Man A obviously wasn't being a perv.

Man B may have been a jerk but did he need to be fired?

Sounds stupid all around.

Take your daughter to the mens restroom and put her in a stall if she's that young.

The other guy can protest without flipping his lid. If it had been a woman, it would have been ok.

Also, I bet there is more to the story about Man B.

Girl dad x3 here. Historically when the girls were younger I took them into the men's RR since htat's where I felt only I should venture.

It opened my eyes beyond measure when I conversed with many women who said they would think nothing of a father taking his little daughter into the women's rest room. I felt like this was a serious invasion of privacy but their empathy to the situation was really an eye opener for me. They really thought it was "absolutely no big deal, and should be expected" that a father could bring his young girl into the women's restroom.

Now, again, I've never done it, but this to me is an entirely different category than Robert who wants to be known as Stella going into the womens RR to take a leak.

It feels way more weird for him to take the daughters into the women's room than for him to take them into the men's room. In the men's room, he is not out of place and can protect them. In the women's room, he is making everyone else uncomfortable.

Interesting situation.

The blow up seems unnecessary...dude wasn't being a perv.

I don't have kids and honestly don't recall what my parents did when I was a kid with me and my sisters when we were in public places without the parent of the opposite...do most men take their daughter into the men's room or go into the women's room in a situation like this?

Personally, I feel like I would be a lot more uncomfortable being in the women's room, but would prefer for my daughter to go in there, if I had a daughter.

If the guy is obviously being a dad and not doing something specific to make somebody uncomfortable than just be gracious.

Confronting and yelling at some guy who's just trying to be a parent and not doing anything dangerous is just being a jerk.

I avoided taking my daughter to the restroom like the plague. If I could find a family restroom, I would go out of my way to find one. I verbally assaulted a target employee after I waited 15 minutes. I guess their mandatory break time is taken in the family restroom.

Now that my daughter is a young teenager. I escort her to the restroom and stand outside the door. She knows that if she is uncomfortable for any reason to scream and I am coming in. You see a man. Scream. Someone says something to you that is threatening. Scream. Someone touches you or approaches you aggressively. Scream. She knows I am coming in.

All that being said, I wouldn't go into the women's with my daughter. If it was an emergency, I would go into the mens and see if anyone is in there. Hopefully, to resolve the matter as best I could. Never had to do it though.

the girls look old enough to go to the bathroom alone, but who knows. maybe they have other issues. its not like he barged in on women.

I would never feel uncomfortable if a dad brought a daughter into the women's room. Not at all. Men's rooms can be gross and the urinal situation is what it is.

I took my son into the ladies room for the longest time. My son went to the men's room alone at a Stars game and he was taking forever, with me lurking crazily outside, until he came out. A fan leaving was like, "if you are waiting for a little boy he is on his way"

It was fine but I sympathize with any parent put in a spot like that where there is not a family restroom.

This whole thing is stupid. He knocked, announced himself, and there weren't any women present at that time. The 2nd guy was way over the line with how aggressively he approached the situation. As a father of young daughters, I have been in situations where I was the only parent available to take them to a public bathroom. I have always taken them to the men's room because I didn't want this exact situation to occur. But I don't think it should be an issue to go the other way.

No kids, so no dog in the fight...
But similar to a poster above women in general do not care. I saw a post on social media the other day saying holler "knock knock" or "is anyone in here" then go on in.

Daughter's comfort and safety is paramount. It's beholden upon Dad to not be the creep (which by all accounts he was not being a creep).

yeah i thought the normal move was always to take my daughter into the mens room because I am present to make sure she's OK, but she's 7 and prefers to go into the women's room alone, so I just stand outside and wait. She's capable of using the restroom and washing her hands by herself, though. These kids look old enough to do the same.

I have let my girls use public restrooms since they were 4ish.

Last weekend my 6 year old daughter used the restroom by herself at a restaurant. I could here her screaming 'daddy help' from our table so i rushed over there and opened the door. The hinges to her stall door were jammed and she couldnt get out of the stall.

i told my wife later that night and her first words were about pedos and that we always need to stand by the door. it was a good wake up call to watch your little girls wherever they go. lots of moral bankruptcy out there!

I always took my daughter into the men's room until she was old enough to go on her own. Never once did I think it would be appropriate to take her into the women's restroom.

I actually wondered this a few days ago. My daughter is 3 and our only girl so I am still kinda new at the girl dad thing. I take her into men's rooms no big deal.

But was wondering if she hit the "gotta go right nowwww" point and men's was full, would I take her into the women's? I haven't had to test that (and women's lines are usually longer anyway) but I guess I would. With my boys they're older, but I've always assumed if I had a kid about to pee themselves (or worse) nobody will really hold it against me to find a toilet ASAP

I am an old man. I have a vague memory of being a toddler and my mother taking me into the ladies room for me to do my business. For some reason the ladies room at church was the one I remember, and I seem to recall we were the only people in there. Once I was old enough to go myself I think I still used the ladies room at church a couple of times until the light bulb went on (maybe I was told) "I'm a dude and shouldn't be in the ladies room."

I didnt read all the details of what happened here. When kids have to go, they have to go. I can't imagine having a hang up about a parent taking a very young child to a closed stall in either facility, and if it is different gender seems the polite thing to do is knock first if you think it will be a problem.

Non-contributary anecdote...

A few years back I was in a State office building in downtown Austin, first floor main lobby. I needed to use the bathroom so I walk down the hall. I see the sign for the ladies room and keep walking expecting the next door to be the men's room. I go in that door, get about three steps in, see a couple of chairs and no urinals. At that point I realize I just entered the ladies room through the unmarked exit. I immediately did an about-face and head for the door. About time I hit the door, I hear, "Sir, this is a la....."

"I'm sorry, I came in here by accident!"

Man B was a jerk but did NOT deserve to be fired. I hope he sues the pants off his former employer so he won't have to work again. No justification to being an a-hole but getting fired for that? No.

Man A, well that is hard. I have 1 daughter, I was never in this situation. I probably would have taken her into the men's bathroom into a stall and waited outside. Unlikely to have gone into a woman's restroom. But he was not being a perv or taking creepy pics so I would let it go.

I believe he enlisted the store manager to scout the bathroom to make sure it was clear, then stay at the door to keep others out until his daughters were done.

I imagine a father traveling with young daughters is very tough, and Man A was doing what he thought was best. He was clearly not being a perv, and Man B could have instructed the women in his party to wait until the family was done.

I have a similar story.

In my company 15 years ago, we had "NCAA Day" where we wear our college gear. So I wore a shirt with "TEXAS A&M" written on it in large and bold. I was the only one with an A&M shirt since I don't live in Texas. There was another Aggie on the floor but he wasn't wearing A&M gear that day, incidentally he caught me one day reading TexAgs at work so he knew I was from A&M and we talked.

That day, I had to go to the restroom urgently. I go to the one on my floor and it is closed for cleaning. I decide to run to a floor upstairs which was of similar floor plan (or so I thought). I just rushed into a restroom in the same location as the men's on my usual floor. I walk in and it all seems different... hmm... no urinals... just stalls. Okay, whatever, so I go into one stall and about go about my bid-ness, when I hear voices from the neighboring stalls. Female voices! Apparently women gossip and chat while in the loo unlike us dudes who just finish and leave.

Then it dawned on me, I was in a women's restroom. WTF do I do, how do I escape? I was stuck. Luckily I was not in mid-pee so I decided to make a run for it. I got out of the stall and ran to the door and when I opened it, a woman was there, about to come in. I didn't look at her face, I just bolted.

She could have easily gotten me into trouble as I was the only one across the 3-4 floors who had a big "TEXAS A&M" written on him. But nothing happened, thank God.

Girl dad x2. I am extremely careful what bathrooms I take them into. The hardest are crowded places like Kyle Field, but I keep them shielded as much as possible and run into the cleanest stall we can find.

The best option are family bathrooms. Kyle Field has a couple, but lines are always long. I have also seen more than a few groups of young ladies standing in line to all go together in the family bathrooms. Other places have them too.

Stop being a snowflake. What's happened to the men of this country??

Man B wasn't attacking, perving or doing anything illegal or criminal. He was just being a jerk which we all do at one point or other in our daily lives. Does not justify getting fired over.

No one would have known unless Man A decided to film it. How is he a "national spectacle"? Man A slandered his rep. His employer's CEO is just virtue-signaling and pandering to women.
