He obviously didn't think they'd be too much of a distraction when he scheduled them originally.

Interviews have got to be a huge distraction, and in my opinion they shouldn't be allowed to interview current coaches until the season is over.

Steichen's offense vs. DeMeco's defense next week. Should be a great test for both coordinators.

It could be a distraction, but I think it should be up to the coach and his org to approve. Otherwise they can be at a pretty big disadvantage compared to coaches not in the playoffs. Plus they're adults, they can take responsibility for their actions.

At least one of the Texans' presumed top candidates should be available after next week. My guess would be DeMeco because I think Philly's defense will be too much for Purdy.

NFC title game is basically the Texans bowl. Between those two and Gannon odds are good our next HC is at that game.

I guess it would bring a certain air of sophistication to discussions to be able to legitimately call the team's performance "Kafkaesque".

I'd be worried that the Giants success this year is more on Daboll (who has a past record of good offenses) vs. Kafka

I heard a replay of John McClain's segment on 610 yesterday 'discussing' the coaching search. Jeez...What a putz.

Host (Lopez and whoever is on with him IDK): So John is there a frontrunner right now for this HC job?
JM: No. If there was someone they liked more than the others then they'd have made a hire by now.
H: But John there's got to be a front runner. There's always someone they favor at this point in time but they let the process play out right?
JM: Nope not the case at all.
H: So if you were betting who would you put your money on?
JM: Demeco Ryans
H:So in your mind he's the front runner?
JM: Not I already said there is no front runner. That's just who I think they end up hiring.
H: OK...So he's YOUR front runner.
JM: No I didn't say that but I guess so. I think we'll see a front runner emerge after 2nd interviews.
H: Well yeah because after 2nd interviews they'll hire someone right?
JM: Maybe maybe not. Every team does it differently. They may wanna do 3rd interviews.

LOL...Why even put this guy on air?

There was regression in Buffalo this season after losing him. What the Giants did this year was impressive but I think Kafka needs more time as an OC under Daboll before he gets real consideration and opportunity.
Josh Allen also didn't look as good this year which I'm guessing impacts Dorsey's candidacy for any open spots.

I'd say there's no way they're hiring anyone until they get to interview all the candidates in person. After this weekend either DeMeco or Steichen and Gannon will have that opportunity. Even though there's a two week gap before the Super Bowl I doubt any coordinator has time for an in person interview unless Caserio and McNair go to them.

And there's no way JM knows anything about who they're hiring. I doubt anyone in that building talks to him anymore. We might get more insider info from bilbo on this board than JM gets, and bilbo's been quiet. Caserio plays this stuff close to the chest, he's not giving info to JM unless he wants to mess with him and starts telling him stories about McCown.

The Bills offense actually was better in 2022 with Dorsey calling plays, than they were in 2021, and Josh Allen's stats are near identical in 21 vs 22, only key difference was 200 yards less in 22, but they also played 1 less game due to the cancelled Cincy game.

No clue, I listen to the Texans All Access podcast every so often and he just rambles when they bring him on. He hardly even stays on topic and they still act like he's giving good info.

It's that time again for crazy mock drafts. Here's my first one, no forced trades, all were accepted by the computer. In addition to a ton of picks this year, I got the Lions 2nd round pick next year.

Yeah, not gonna happen, but one can dream lol

That would be absolutely hilarious to drop back from 2 to 6 and Indy still takes Levis at 4. That would be amazing. Double whammy of a divisional foe's failure plus us getting more picks and getting better quicker.

After seeing the first trade and the Texans still getting Young with the 6th pick, I expected the rest of the Texans draft to be all former Aggie players.

Watching Kiper saying Levis is the best QB in the draft.

What a dumbass. He's about 20 years too long to be a draft analyst.

There is absolutely zero chance Stroud falls to 13. I seriously doubt he'll fall out of the top 5
Max Power

The Levis chatter smells like misinformation to me. Unlike last year, this is a draft where we're going to see multiple QB's drafted in the top half of the first round, and at least 2 taken in the top 4. I do think there are concerns in the league about Young's size, but plenty of teams still like him enough to consider him the top QB prospect. If teams are hyping Levis it feels like they're trying to artificially raise his profile because his production doesn't match the hype. He should be in the conversation with Richardson, not Young and Stroud.

What I do think is happening is that more teams like Stroud than is being let on. Stroud is probably the favorite QB by several teams, I think he's the safest pick, he's got the highest floor of all the QB prospects. I don't think Houston should try to move up, be patient, let another team jump in front and give up too many assets. One of the top 2 QB prospects will be there.

Don't forget the Jets taking Sam Darnold #3 in that same Josh Allen draft with Baker.

The 2017 draft is crazy because the top 10 looked like this

1. Browns - Myles Garret (Hit)
2. Bears - Trubisky (not even on the board miss)
3. 49ers - Solomon Thomas (bad miss)
4. Jax - Fournette (I would put miss, since he did nothing for Jax)
5. Ten - Corey Davis (WR) (yeah, putting this as a miss)
6. NYJ - Jamal Adams (hit, but a weak one since they couldn't resign him)
7. SD - MIke Williams (hit? I guess, since he is a starter, but I could call it a miss)
8. Car - Christian McCaffrey (hit?, same as Fournette, but at least they got to trade him?)
9. Cin - John Ross (WR) (not even on the board miss again)
10 CHIEFS - MAHOMES (they sunk their battleship)

Wow, just wow

Before this draft, I thought the Texans were going to have to "settle" for Mahomes. A lot of people, myself included, were shocked when the Chiefs traded up to get him, especially considering they already had Alex Smith. I thought there was no way that a Tech QB could translate to a good NFL QB. I was ecstatic when the Texans were able to get Watson since I for sure thought he would be a better NFL QB. Chiefs will forever be regarded as geniuses for that draft trade/pick.
