I mean, I get where the Cam Newton comparisons come from in terms of size, etc….. but Cam Newton dominated in college, won a Heisman trophy, and won a national championship.

Richardson wasn't close to any of those things. He was pedestrian as a QB and had a couple flashy moments.

I don't care what his testing shows, his actual football tape isn't that impressive in comparison.

Now that I've put that on record, he'll probably go Patrick Mahomes on the league and make me look like an idiot.

this puts the Colts at #4 in an interesting position.

they may just stay there and still get their preferred QB

I have a feeling the Texans are going to pick Stroud. Very accurate passer with NFL size and a strong arm and he looked really good against Georgia in the CFP. Bryce Young may end up having a great career but he's just too small to risk it in terms of durability. Richardson is impressive at the combine but seems like a complete gamble for a long term QB.

I just have a hard time looking at TOSU QBs and not accounting that the QB success is due to having a conveyor belt of first round WR talent.

I think Richardson's performance is a really good thing for Houston. If he didn't perform as well it would still be a two horse race. Young showed up at a good weight but that will be overshadowed by Richardson. Stroud threw well in a neutral setting which is good for him as well. I'm still not sold on Indy moving right now pending the pro days of Young, Stroud, and Richardson. Richardson could tempt a team to come get him at 1 on that performance. Levis I think is now prospect number 4 of the QBs. JSN could push Johnston in the WR1 race, he had a nagging injury this season. Last year Olave and Wilson both said he was better than they were and both had great rookie seasons. I prefer Johnston but JSN might have put himself over Addison in terms of who the second receiver off the board is.

I don't worry about that too much, because couldn't the same be said for Alabama QBs? Look at the production drop off Young had this year compared to last, and this past year was the first for Alabama without at least one 1st round talent WR on the team in a while.

I'm much more comfortable with Stroud watching him throw this morning on the combine replay. For how much talk has been about Richardson's arm, Stroud was throwing them the same distance with accuracy without much effort. So I still would be good with Young or Stroud if they take a QB.

But one other thought is that this combine is worse case scenario for the Bears. Young not throwing and Stroud and Richardson having a showing, not to mention people talking up Levis (even though we looked way behind the other two in my opinion) just muddied the QB waters and I could see teams not willing to jump up to #1. Different groups have each of the four QBs as their top QB in this draft. Ironically, with the way the QB field has hit, our spot would be the hot seat for people wanting to trade up after seeing who went first.

having watched Mac Jones for 2 years with the Patriots...

he definitely looks like an Alabama QB that was a product of his great college WR's

----
another aspect with regard to Young's small stature...

DeMeco watched film and game planned against Murray twice a year when he was at SF. So he knows the limitations of a short QB. Also knows if those limitations are relevant or irrelevant

I agree and I hope the Texans take Stroud as well. He seems to have everything you look for in a high level draft pick at the QB spot.

Stroud definitely appears to be the best passer of any of these recent tOSU QB's that have come out

Yep this is my issue too.

Dude is a freak. No doubt. It shows in the combine.

But that freakishness doesn't translate into the tape, not like Cam Newton's.

Newton basically never played until he was a year older than Richardson is now. There's no doubt Richardson is raw and if you draft him you can't expect him to start for at least a year if not two. I'm personally a fan of the high risk, high reward type. Richardson's floor is really low but that means it's an easy decision to move on. That's sadly a much better option than being where the giants are for example.

If I was the Seahawks, I'd go after Richardson because they've already got the pieces in place at the skill positions to make him successful.

So I don't think Richardson put himself into QB1 contention but what I do think he did is make it so that he's taken before Carolina picks at 9, which is the primary slot I've seen him in most mock drafts. I think he makes sense for drafting to both Seattle and Detroit. They both have veteran QBs with an extra first round pick this year. Both of their higher draft picks are directly correlated to trading away their long-time starting QBs. They both draft before LV at 7 and would be able to draft him and have him sit for a season or two before seeing meaningful game time. Gut feeling is the latest he goes is 6 either by Seattle or Detroit or one of them trading back.

Agreed, and man, do I wish we didn't need a QB, because the spot we are in could get some massive picks after the 1st pick happens. As it is, I can imagine a scenario where Arizona potentially gets better return on a trade than the Bears do because of demand if Young and Stroud go 1 and 2.

This. With both Stroud and Richardson looking great this past weekend, I don't think the pressure to trade up and get Bryce Young is what it was a few days ago. Texans can stay put and feel good about whoever they get. Colts or whoever might prefer to trade up to 3 as opposed 1 because the price is more bearable. Chicago wants there to be one true top pick that everybody is bidding for. A legitimate top 2 or even top 3 is not good for the value of the first pick overall.

Well looks like the Titans have gotten approval from the NFL to wear the throwback Luv Ya Blue unis for a home game next season.

Titans plan to wear Oilers throwback uniforms for a home game this season

Quote:

The specific game when they'll wear the uniforms hasn't been determined, but Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com expects that it will be for the Titans' home game against the Houston Texans.

I still don't understand their fixation with the history that has nothing to do with them, their fans, their players, etc.

Why would Nashville fans get excited to see the Oilers unis?

This is nothing but a "**** you, Houston" from the Adams family. It's trolling and the NFL will allow it because they're idiots.

ETA - maybe the Ravens will don Browns uniforms the next time Cleveland play In Baltimore.

Didn't the Browns original history get officially converted back to Cleveland?

Yeah, Art Model wasn't a complete ******* and allowed Cleveland to keep their history. Whereas Bud Adams was a complete ****ing ******* who wanted to keep all the records with him and spite the city of Houston. And while I'm not sure that is 100% correct, it's close enough.

Gotta say, was looking through some comments on some of the news articles about this and I would say the one that summed it up best "Wearing Oilers gear vs the Texans would be like the Indianapolis Colts having Johnny Unitas appreciation night vs the Ravens."

It's just such a **** you to Houston, and I'm sure the NFL will play it up as some kind of reconnect to the roots of the organization bull*****

OK, that was a painful trip down memory lane that instills in me a want to set fire to the Adam's Ancestral (because I'm sure that's how they view it) home in Tennessee.

I DESPISE tu, I LOETHE the yankees and dodgers but there is no franchise that I HATE more than the titans. The oilers were the second team I remember becoming a fan of after the Astros and it was gut wrenching when that old ******* took them and bailed on the city.

Getting away from how much adams and the titans suck, some interesting free agency news that is kind of connected to us.

Seattle resigned Geno Smith to a 3 year 105M deal, so I would say that puts them out of the QB chase this year. With the Saints already signing Carr, I would put that as Indy, and maybe the Panthers as potential teams that would make a move up for a QB.

Looking at the top 10
1 Chicago Bears
2 Houston Texans
3 Arizona Cardinals
4 Indianapolis Colts
5 Seattle Seahawks
6 Detroit Lions
7 Las Vegas Raiders
8 Atlanta Falcons
9 Carolina Panthers
10 Philadelphia Eagles

Yeah, maybe Atlanta would take a QB, or the Raiders, but I don't think either would trade up to get one. More like if one fell they would take them. So with each day that bidding war for the Bears is going to have people bowing out.

One of the big dominoes will be what Baltimore does with LJ and where Rodgers goes. That could have a huge ripple effect for the QB market and draft.
IrishAg

Other news for our division, Calvin Ridley was re-instated for the Jaguars. So they now have a legitimate #1 receiver to go with Kirk and Jones. Putting that with Engram at TE and Travis E at RB and that offense should be really scary next year.

I get that, my point was that Bud Adams wanted to bring the Titans to Houston and have them wear Oilers uniforms. I can only imagine how pissed I would have been, along with every other Oilers fan, had the NFL allowed it to happen but fortunately they told him under no circumstance would that be allowed. I think it's incredibly low class to wear it against Houston regardless of location, the fact he wanted to do it in Houston demonstrates the bitterness the man harbors, well the feeling is mutual. This would be akin to the Ravens going to Cleveland and wearing Browns throwbacks. But at least they got their name back.

I wish the NFL would step in and tell them if they want to wear throwbacks that's fine, but pick another team to do it against.
