Totally agree. If Ryans wants to take the next step as a coach he cannot allow that behavior to be acceptable. It undermines his entire coaching staff for that to not only be allowed, but defended in front of the press. He's gotta hold the players accountable, I don't think he's been able to separate the player's mentality enough yet but I believe he'll get there.

Back to the game, while the refs weren't the reason we lost, they sure as hell are part of the reason the Chiefs didn't lose. Stroud got hit too much and we couldn't stop Kelce. The defense shut down basically every other part of the offense but him and that was enough at the end of the day. This team has a lot I do like but definitely glaring deficiencies compared to the top teams. At some point this team was going to lose in the playoffs with all our issues, injuries being a big one that did us no favors. Gotta take the offseason and get better where we need to.

One big thing that this game reinforced is having a high quality tight end is still kind of a cheat code in the NFL and we don't have one. I wouldn't be mad to get a guy like Penn State TE Tyler Warren in the draft, even if it's not the biggest opportunity.

"I don't feel that way,'' Mahomes said Wednesday as the Chiefs began preparations for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium. "At the end of the day, the referees are doing their best to call the game as fair and as proper as they possibly can. LOL, I love it when a reporter asks a question like that. Do they think Mahomes will be dumb enough to say he does? I don't think the refs or the league are intentionally trying to help the Chiefs. I think the real issue is that Mahomes is abusing the current rules to force the hands of the refs, just like players started doing in the NBA 20ish years ago. The NFL needs to nip that **** in the bud right now before everyone starts doing the same thing Mahomes is doing and the league goes to **** like the NBA where the "star" players can pretty much do whatever they want by flopping around and complaining which ends up with a horrible product that is unwatchable.

And there appears to be a big discrepancy between how their games are called in the regular season versus the playoffs. They have had an enormous penalty advantage in the playoffs the last few years. Not once in 11 playoff games over the last 4 years have they been penalized more than their opponent.

Edit to add this chart, which is just crazy for how big of an outlier they've been.

I would say there's a pretty big delta between top 5 and not good. CJ regressed this year and you're correct he's not currently a top 5 QB. But his OL and coaching did him no favors (how many times did we leave Schultz to block a DE knowing damn well he can't or won't do it?). However, I think he's still above average and well over half the league would be more than happy to trade QB places with us. Time will tell if he takes the leap.

Stroud is definitely not a top 5 QB

is he a top 10 QB in the league?

not sure with the emergence of Jayden Daniels plus Justin Herbert's strong second half

Stroud is in the group with Jordan Love, Bo Nix, Trevor Lawrence, et al
