Thought I'd ask you guys for some advice. Here's my situation.

I've been playing off and on since the game came out. I have never done a level 5 raid so all of my teams are composed of non legendaries.

In regard to pvp, I've chosen to focus all of my resources and effort on the great league ( which I have a pretty good team for) and the ultra league ( still a work in progress).

I did some ultra league matches last night. I have 2 mons that will be in the ultra league team for sure. A snorlax with body slam and outrage. An Alolan muk with dark pulse. What is a good #3 for my team?

I've noticed right away that if anyone has a fighting type character. I'm in a world of hurt. I don't really have a counter. At the same time, there really isn't a meta relevant or recommended fighting type. It makes me think I won't see a lot of those normally.

I used electivire or the evolved electabuzz because he was pretty close to 2500. I won my fair share of matches last night, but I know this team has holes. Could someone recommend a good #3 for my ultra league team?

I've seen a fair number of fighting type so far. But if you are worried them, think about adding a fairy or flying type. My gardevoir does work against any dragons or fighting types I see.

Having a lot of fun with Ultra League. I like the Flygon/Lucario/Gardevoir combo a lot. Going to try to get a decent Snorlax for this too, supposedly he is a beast.

Do you have Flygon with Dragon or Ground Moves or both? My Gardevoirs are all over 2500 otherwise I'd try one out.

I have one Flygon with Mud Shot as the fast move and Dragon Claw as the charge move and another with Mud Shot as the fast and Earth Power as the charge...I am trying to save up on candy and dust to teach the one with Earth Power Dragon Claw because that charges up so fast and wrecks shields. Wish I was more active on that com day!

The Gardevoir I am running has double fairy type moves...I am not using the com day move on it. It shreds fighting types and Giratina.

After some stumbles at the start, I'm doing okay* with:

Opener: Steelix, Swampert, or Charizard

Giratina-A

Ursaring or Clefable (Giratina counter)


* I mean not getting my ass handed to me every time. The Opener you and your opponent choose really seem to determine the winner 75% of the time.)

Just got my first-ever 5-0 set with Venusaur, Giratina-A, and Clefable.

What level are you? I went 9-1 today at level 8 with Snorlax-Venusaur-Mamoswine. Snorlax is a great lead since only weak to fighting and bulky. Majority of people here are running Giratina-Swampert, possibly a fighting type. Both Snorlax and Mamoswine easily best Giratina, and Venusaur wipes the floor with Swampert. Snorlax handles fire with bulk, and Venusaur handles fighting with bulk.

40. Part off it is that I've been throwing away most things below the cp cap for a long time. I don't have many snorlaxes or other stuff with community day moves below 2500.

I'm in the same boat regarding much of that.

I have exactly one mon above 2500! You bunch of whiners!

It's going to suck tho. He's only at 1600 CP right now. I need more candies. Hopefully the event this weekend gives me an opening.

I bit the bullet and maxed out a 98% cleffa after getting it a second charge move. Goodbye stardust, hello fairy (hopefully) bad***.

Besides maxing it out to 2400 or so, which will cost you roughly 200 candies, don't forget about the second charge move. Fortunately that's only 25 instead of 75 or whatever.

I had a Clefable with two moves that I had built up for GL. Just maxed him out to 2432, he's 98%. Charm, Dazzling Gleam, Meteor Mash.

Meant rank in GBL, but I hear ya. That snorlax is literally my only with body slam (I thought, why the heck would I need these?) and transferred them all.

I didn't even have a swablu low enough to evolve an Altaria for great league. 800 candies, no swablu.

Yikes. Tried to test out my Swampert/Gardevoir/Giratina lineup in Ultra League and got destroyed by a lineup of Sceptile/Swampert/Scizor

Change to swampert to counter fire? They have a venusaur. Change to fire, they have swampert. Even when I get close, I somehow get screwed. Like I'll knock out their second to last thing and have a charge built up, hit it as they're dying, and their last mon STILL somehow hits me with a charge move right out of the gate to knock me out. It is infuriating and not even fun.

Are you playing in the regular battle league or the premium that uses raid passes? I've been noticing that there's a lot of variety in lineups in the regular rewards league, and I've actually had more difficult matchups there

For pvp purposes.....

You should probably switch Dazzling gleam with Psychic.

No....roll of the dice.

There may be special TM's coming that allow you to pick the new move, but not confirmed yet. Something's in the code, though.

I wish they would pair you up with someone of similar level. I am level 26 and have no business fighting against some of these guys. I am seeing a Girantina almost every battle. I have nothing. My best counter is Tyranitar but his move set is not ideal. I still enjoy but jeezums, let me battle someone of my caliber!

Agree with this. It'll get even worse in master league for people like us can't fully max our mons.

That's some really, really bad UX.

Starting to figure out Ultra. Went 9-1 today with my team of Lucario, Venusaur, and Giratina.

Lucario takes out Snorlax and burns shields vs neutral damage. His steel typing gives his good enough match ups. Venusaur takes out Swampert and Is my fairly counter. Even though my Giratina is only like 2000 CP and doesn't have the ideal move set it's good enough make a difference.

Random thought - Shiny Giratina is one of the best shinies. I'd love to catch one eventually.

Doesn't hold a candle to shiny charizard and rayquaza. Umbreon is also awesome. Metagross is pretty cool too
