Just bought Link's Awakening on eBay. Really want to play it now that it runs smoothly on Switch 2.

Big Zelda fan and haven't play that one.

Very well done, although I couldn't ever finish this one on Switch.
My dog suffered a stroke and passed unexpectedly when I was playing the game and in Mabe village. I haven't been able to pick up the game since. Crazy how you never forget or cannot disassociate memories like that.

Do you already own BOTW and TOTK on Switch? If so, all you need is the $10 upgrades.

If you haven't played them, they are absolutely worth it and I'm jealous you get to play them for the first time.

Yeah I'm glad I realized this last night. I was ready to buy the switch 2 version of BoTW and then I realized the upgrade was only $10 dollars after seeing somebody else mention it on this thread. I got overwhelmed with ToTK and going to replay BoTW just because it was so fun the first time.

Already have them and played both but I haven't played the first one since it came out so at this point I've forgotten enough that it might feel a little bit like a new game.

My kids have never tried them and my youngest says she wants to play one of them.

A lot of Switch 2 Pro controllers at Southlake Costco this morning if anyone is looking. Didn't see any Switch 2's though.

Racing against 23 other players is great, but MKW has an excessive amount of oncoming traffic with that many players on the track. Some of the tracks are mostly a long straightaway which I don't care for either. 150cc on MKW feels faster than it does on MK8 but maybe that's just me. The chaos is top notch though.

MKW thoughts...

Overall, I really enjoy the game.

I love most of the new tracks, with some really great standouts like Boo Cinema and the new Rainbow Road.

Free Roam is super fun. (Again, with the caveat that it could've been so much more.)

Knockout is super chaotic, but in a good way. I've only done two of those so far, but I want to knock out the rest this week.

I have some other minor complaints...

At first I really loved the drive between tracks in Grand Prix, but now I sort of wish we spent a bit more time on the actual tracks themselves. In many of them it seems like you're only getting 1 lap in and most of the race time is the time between tracks.

And why are the alternate costumes all listed as separate characters? It would have been much cleaner if it worked like Smash Bros, where you select your character and then the outfit.

And the wall jumping is a lot trickier than I expected it to be. If you're a great Mario Kart player, it does not automatically translate to this game. Which I suppose could be seen as a good thing. I need to get better at the tricks.

My Switch 2 shortly started operating fine again shortly after my epic rant in this thread and have had no problems since. I have some theories to explain the lag, but don't know.

All I know is my *****ing and moaning scared the Switch 2 into submission.

Brother in law came through with a coworker who somehow picked up an extra Mario Kart bundle, paying list and should have it in about a week.

Was not an original Switch owner so I will probably have lots of questions, fire away with any general recs.

Looks like the controllers are available through the Costco website as well.

The only answer is start with Breath of the Wild and sink about 600 hours into it

Picked BotW yesterday. Haven't played a Zelda game since Link's Awakening on GameBoy.

As mentioned, BOTW is probably the best game of the last decade. Get ready to sink 100+ hours into it.

TOTK is just as good, with an even better story IMHO.

Super Mario Odyssey is a fantastic Mario game.

And if you're a Metroid fan at all, both Dread and Prime Remastered are HIGHLY recommended.

I'm definitely gonna have to pick up a Pro controller at some point. The joycon deal is pretty unwieldy

Breath of Wild. Top 3 game of all time, imo. Getting to play it in 4K at 60fps for your first playthrough will be awesome.

Tears of the Kingdom is basically a busier and larger Breath of the Wild. But one of the things I love about Breath of the Wild is how sparse it is. I love the story and the atmosphere the story creates.

Great info, thanks y'all.

I've got two little ones at home so won't really have hours to put into a game anytime soon, but I really enjoyed Metroid back in the day so might give those a look.

Is the Pro Controller worth the investment?

I've seen many people say the Pro 2 controller is probably the best and most comfortable controller they've ever played with, so I went ahead and bought one a few days ago. Waiting on it to ship tomorrow.

It's $90 but probably going to be well worth it for the years of gaming you'll get out of it.

I sold my old pro controller for $30 on facebook so that helped my decision.

A big thing for me is the two new buttons on the back, and I'm planning to re-play BOTW/TOTK, so I'm gonna map the run button to one of those, so I can finally jump while running without needing to press two buttons with the same hand.

I'll be the naysayer.

I've tried BOTW probably three times and couldn't get through it. Too much tedium and wandering that I don't have time for these days. I love the older Zelda games that are a bit more straightforward (Link's Awakening is great), but this one didn't keep my interest.

I guys I'll give it one more shot on Switch 2. Aside from Twilight Princess, BOTW is the only Zelda game that I started but didn't finish.

I had the same experience. I chalked it up to being over 40 these days. When I was 10 and had the available free time, I probably would have loved it. I just can't sit and play video games like I used to without that little voice in my head saying, "you're going to get fat if you don't go work out... the yard won't mow itself... etc."

My now 13 year old son has played through it twice and says it's easily his favorite game.

My dumb ass started BOTW, came back to it a week later, got stuck, and couldn't figure out how to progress the story. So that's where I've been at for years because I never bothered to start a new save.

Yep I get bogged down or bored easily on the super long games. I loved BOTW but just got tired of it after a while.

No Mans Sky on Switch 2 runs really well. I dropped the frame rate restriction and haven't seen any stutters. Taking no mans Sky on the go is wild!

Botw is what I call a good game but kind of terrible as a Zelda game. The dungeons are actually terrible and nothing unique about them or the bosses. Totk was a vast improvement on that front

I love BotW but it takes some time to get through for sure. The joy of exploration was just the best but by the end of the game you end up so overpowered that the final sequence is kind of a dawdle. TotK did much better at balancing power during the quest and difficulty at the end I felt.

Both are some major time investments though. Currently going through BotW again.

I spent quite a few hours on BOTW. Then my youngest son deleted all of my progress by accident. I had just gotten a horse. I never picked it back up.

This is me. Wanted to love it but never could. When I started Elden Ring, couldn't put it down. Zelda games also seem tedious to me. Sadness

That said, I bought the $10 upgrade and will give it another shot!

How much of this is Nintendo having adequate supply? Still a major milestone to celebrate, but is it more supply related than lack of PlayStation demand / excitement?
