I'm not the best in the world at playing with images, but if you stick the cat in Photoshop---crank up the brightness and increase the sharpness----spots appear on the lower half of the belly and back of the front legs. Of course this is after saving off the internet, and playing through a couple other programs

The issue I have--from that angle, a mountain lion should have a VERY noticable tail. It's a fat tail that's dang near 2/3 (or more) the length of the body.----sure there may be more that simply not seen.

The high shoulder, narrow legs with knobby joint visible on left front foreleg, and no sign of longer tail, and ghost of a horn possibly in the image are starting to put the Aoudad camp on this one.

after looking at the mountain lion sunchaser posted I am back in the aoudad camp...whatever that thing is, it is huge and definitely more the size of a aoudad...I challenge someone to find a pic of a mountain lion that is as large as a aoudad..you can just tell that animal is not as sleek and mobile looking as a cat is

That is a cat. If you google aoudads you will see from those pics they have pretty big horns and an aoudad that big would have horns you couldnt miss.

not all aoudad have huge horns. this for instance could be a male with either really dark horns (that blend in with the background) or even a broken horn. we have/had one on our place that have broken horns. the biggest reasons to me why this is an aoudad is b/c of the mane and his junk. cats just don't have mane or junk that big. doesn't happen. also, it seems like he's awful tall to be a cat

I think what you guys are calling a mane is actually a 2nd lion in front of the other one that is angling off to the left and is mostly blocked from view by the one closest to the camera.

And the tail is angling down and to the right not straight down like someone has circled on their picture. You can see the black tip if you look close enough.

The high shoulder and what appears to be a "beard" makes me think this is an Audad.

A cat would be lower, and longer, and shoulders would be even with pelvis. The back legs would have a MUCH more pronounced bend in them, closer to 90 degrees instead of about 35 degress. A mountain lion tail would be more pronounced, and it would attach higher on the rump. The forelegs would be thicker, as would the lower back legs.

I think that there's just too much inconsistency, upon closer examination, for it to be a lion.

The head was furthest away from the flas, and has the least definition. Perhaps it just didn't stand out against the dark background. You just caught the white of one ear, and that's about it.

if i'm correct about it being an aoudad, then all you punks who said i was an idiot at the beginning of this thread will get socked right in the mouth

well hopefully there are more pictures of it in a month

all the lionesses seem to have backed off now...seems like the consensus is turning aoudad
