If that's an indigo, then that's what I saw in College Station years ago, like I said, because the images of racers and coachwhips don't look like what I saw, and that does…I've searched them all since way before my post and subsequent replies to my post. I think I saw an indigo in CS. If I'm wrong, don't hang me. I'm not trying to hurt anyone, but I saw a snake then that I've never recognized before this thread, and that's the one. And I've been absolutely enraptured since I saw him. Way bigger snake than a cw or racer.

Coachwhips can be upwards of 7 feet.

If you saw an indigo it was put there intentionally or unintentionally by someone. They don't naturally range anywhere close to BCS.

I've got a coachwhip shed about 5' long from this summer...we used to be overrun with rat snakes and hognose but the "whips" have taken over!! Multiple sightings this year.

Look everyone; I'm not a snake guy, but I'm friends with some, and I'm new to this thread this year. I'm fine to say it could've been a CW, but it was much fatter and prettier than those and the racers I've seen posted here. I don't care either way. It was the prettiest snake I've ever seen, and the indigos I've seen in this thread are the only ones that have reminded me of that snake. If they don't slither their way into CS EVER, so be it. I couldn't care less. Y'all are the experts. Keep doing the Good Lord's work and keep them out of Eden. I'll go back to football and basketball, where nobody is an expert! I'll check back in if I need help with a venomous one, definitely not a poisonous one!

No worries.

The thread has been going a long time and is indeed overseen by real snake experts. When they correct us, we take it for what it is. An attempt to share knowledge, not a shaming. All of us have misidentified snakes over time. This thread has helped me along a lot. Kept a lot of snakes alive as well that would have been dispatched in the past.

I am definitely not as much of a snake expert as I used to be. Of course, working every day at a zoo, or a nature preserve was part of that.

Definitely an expert on hognoses, though.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

He was strong, but pretty easy once I got ahold of his head. Bit my boot a few times trying to get to his head. Ranch owner said he's seen 8-footers. Would love to seen one that size!

Not my photo but from a ranch we dove hunted on Sw of Hebronville this year. I know one of these guys and the snake was over 7 feet reportedly. I've never seen one that long before.

Hey gang, that DBWS from the other day is still in the exact spot. It's alive. I confirmed my son and friends didn't hurt it. Might it be sick or watching over eggs? Docile because it's winter and likes the little warm spell we're having?

Just trying to figure out why it wouldn't have moved for a few days.
