Not Mission, but I was an All stater from Sharyland...

I miss being able to sit on the ground and not get stung by fire ants.

Yes! We used to lay in the yard at night to watch for falling stars and lightning bugs…would be in fire ant hell if we tried it now

Farm ponds.
I'm sure they still exist but I'm not near them anymore… basically stocked with whatever the owner wanted, no catch limits, no one else there, no rules or laws. It was awesome anarchy.
They also made for good swimming holes.

Pretty much a "pond" or "pool" east of I-35 and a "tank" west of it.
Reservoir in SE Tx. For rice irrigation in the past, duck hunting and fishing today.

I miss the former hunting and fishing trips/ camps which had no cell phones or televisions. Deer hunting trips to West Tx, the hill country, S Tx, fishing around Double Bayou and Toledo Bend with our large family group including many cousins my age. And the frequent after and before school hunting and fishing trips with cousins and friends.

Mom and dad bought a used 1963 Cadillac Fleetwood in 1970, that only had 12,000 miles on it.

It had vent windows in front and rear doors, and they and the main windows were powered. So the driver's door had 8 window switches

As kids we used to take big rubber bands and stretch them on the vent windows and play with all the sounds they would make with the wind blowing through them.

Going to Friday night football games as a kid. Running on the field after the game and kneeling with the players from both teams and saying the Lords Prayer. Then pestering the players for chinstraps or arm pads.

Reservoirs are bigger than tanks or ponds though, at least in my part of no man's land that some folks call SE Texas and others call central coastal Texas.

If you're a dude and you got in them slightly inebriated, police kicked you out for solicitation of prostitution, or so I was told on my way out the door.

That sounds like a hell of a night right there.

The later the night got, the better the boxes got with the women. It was marvelous when clothes started coming off, especially when more than one was in the box.

Being able to go out to run errands or go somewhere with friend(s) (as a kid and adult) and only saying I'll be back around/by X

Manual transmissions

Receiving real mail which gave you time to think about and compose a response - expectation of instantaneous email/text responses only lead to negative things and stress

Waiting for your photos to come back from being developed leaving you with anticipation and reliving events later instead of thousands of digital photos no one looks later.

Food being more regional. Traveling somewhere meant you could bring something cool back not found in your town (or in the US).

Fishing West end of Shoalwater, and East end of Shoalwater (the old timers called it that, nowdays the Lagoon) between POC and Seadrift with my Dad back in the 80s when my Dad and buddies were running the first aluminum tunnel hulls in the area. Fish all day on a Saturday in the East end and see maybe a boat or two run through, and they weren't gonna stop and fish because they were too scared they'd not get back up and out. Limits of Reds were sooo easy. Me and Dad's "bet" was whoever limited first, the other had to serve his beer all day. Most days, beer followed closely behind breakfast, unless the limit was earlier the day before.

Goodness, those were THE days.

Lots of good times golfing and hunting with him as well.

I miss my Dad. However, I do CHERISH the memories.
"Green" is the new RED.

There was none better on weather and related topics than Jud Ashmore on KBUC. Then he also went to KENS TV-5 in SA…..and the daddy himself Dan Cook on everything sports in SA. Dan Cook was a huge Aggie football fan.
