The USCG Ocean Sentry and a SAT air Lifeteam Chopper are both active over the area. I would interpret that as potentially positive.

I've never seen a low like this with rain camp on Texas so long. Get the hell out of here and let us be.
This was out in west texas a week ago going the same slow speed just slightly drifting east quite slowly. It's one of a kind

Yeah, high pressure from more north basically traps these things into becoming stationary or at least very slow. Add Harvey to that too

In 2007, I was living in San Marcos, and we had 20+" of rain in July because of cut-off lows dumping rain on us.TAMUallen said:ABATTBQ87 said:Tropical Storm Allison says helloTAMUallen said:

50-60 inches.
Quote:
Hurricane Harvey unleashed record-shattering rainfall on Houston in August 2017. Some parts of the city received more than 44 inches of rain over just a few days. In fact, one personal weather station in the Houston area recorded an astonishing 61.52 inches over 84 hoursmaking it one of the most extreme rain events ever documented in a major U.S. city.
To put that in perspective: that's more than a year's worth of rain for Houston in less than a week. The storm caused catastrophic flooding, displacing tens of thousands of residents and damaging or destroying over 200,000 homes.

Unless those boots on the ground were the ones who actually laid eyes on the thing they were updating, I would take it with a grain of salt. I thought we were trying to avoid hearsay in this thread, but I guess not. Another poster said they heard a dam was failing. Another wild statement with the only source being given are their own ears.

I also see (FlightRadar) what I think is a Customs helicopter N3938A following the river upstream toward Kerrville. Pretty cool to see the number air assets they can call up when needed.austinag1997 said:

I've been holding out hope that somehow these babies were swept down the river, and managed to make it out. Then just went into the nearby woods thinking help would be on the other side, and now are just lost in the woods. Praying this is true and for all unaccounted for to be found safe.
