I have done all kinds of crazy work outs. Most of the time day 1 I feel as if nothing prepared me for the environment I was in. Noted It would have been worse had I not and second just shows how hard it is to substitute the real deal especially at altitude.
That said the hardest workouts, which also involve the mind (patience, grit) are going dead slow at the low ready weapon of choice.
Set up a 100-200M distance in the woods with some slope and hopefully deadfall. Than stalk it and take an hour+ to do it. Making it real as possible. Every small muscle required for balance will be screaming at you. Even better have somebody at the finish line back to you wearing Electronic Ear Pro and have them call you out.
The grit, no shortage of times spent exhaustive efforts to get into range only to snap a hidden stick below the moss at the very end. Just have to laugh it off and try again.

- Alexander Solzhenitsyn
