I want an office on Northgate so I don't have to drive home after HH.
And I want to go totally Old School and create a frat/sorority for old farts.
The kids will bow at our feet when we bring in fellow old Ags such as Snoop, AC Slater, Elliot from ET, and Lyle Lovett.
We will own NorthGate once again.

And now this fella is responsible for a half a billion dollar municipal budget? Got no one to blame but ourselves at this point. Years of shady real estate deals, inadequate infrastructure to match growth, not enough cops, not enough firefighters…….and this is the guy that's gonna fix it??? HAHAHAHHHHAHAAA

That's the one. And "Just Married" on the back window (still there, 15 years later). People used to stop and take photos with it. Redass Aggies with BONFAR, and young couples with the "Just Married".

The number of people on this board who can't seem to make up their mind on what they want Northgate to be yet are positive that the city is 100% wrong makes me want to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I think the issue many people have- at least many people that I know and have talked to- is that the city didn't bother to ask citizens what they wanted. A lot of citizens probably don't know exactly what they want because we haven't had any real discussion about it.

But the city tried to tell us that they knew what we wanted and we just needed to accept their proposal.

Or rather, it sound like the City told the citizens what the developer wanted. Without any type of buffer.

Typically municipalities have strategic plans and long-term development plans.

I'd be interested in how any of these actions or proposals synch with those plans.

If they don't, that's another discussion that needs to be had.

True as that may be, there's also a very anti-College Station bias on this forum, and someone already made a joke that if Bryan was to pull the same stunt they'd be worshipped. Remember, the things they're doing with the Travis Bryan park was not voted on, the citizens wanted more park-like stuff and the city basically sold it out to developers.

From what I've read, and yes there is bias since its also my own perception, is that most people seem pretty aligned that they don't want Northgate to be 20+ story student housing complexes. As far as what it should be, lets eliminate that and then figure out what the different options are. It shouldn't be a situation where people don't know what it should be, so they should accept the thing they don't want.

I can dig up posts were people were celebrating the densification of Northgate (perhaps incorrectly believing that it was creating a "containment zone" or that it would create "less traffic")...and it suddenly becomes a problem with Northgate's "character" when it gets too close to the bars near College Main?
