What buisness/restaurant does College Station lack or need?

A higher end/unique grocery store like Whole Foods Market. I think there is no chance of this happening anytime in the next five years. Same for Central Market.

Sprout's Farmer's Market is possible, perhaps even likely. They have stores in Lubbock, Tyler, and Corpus Christi, so they are familiar with operating in third tier Texas markets. One is on the way to New Braunfels right now.

Trader's Joes is finally expanding again in Texas. One in Sugar Land and it appears two more are on the way for the Austin area. So this might be a possibility down the road. It seems like they have a lot of "in-fill" opportunities in the large markets in Texas before they look at smaller areas though.

I want another venue like The Hall of Fame. Miss having a place to meet and dance. Graham Central Station and Denim and Diamond were our go to places when in school. Harry's was mainly college kids but the Hall was for all ages, both locals and students.

I also loved the live acts the Hall brought in.

Sadly, dancehalls have closed all over the state. Loved the Hall of Fame. First date with my wife was at the Hall of Fame

I think a good oyster/raw bar similar to Perla's in Austin would do pretty well here if put in the right location. Feel like BCS is missing a good seafood spot that's not sushi and/or fried everything except for a couple of items on the menu.

Old school pizza parlor
Hand tossed dough
Thick or thin dough as a choice
Tables and chairs

No "flash" baking
No walk through order toppings as you walk with a tray
Not $50 for a pizza
No waiter

Yes, it is sad. It's such a great way for young adults to meet. You could go out with your friends and meet new people, have a dance with someone who catches your eye and see where it leads. Being an old fart now, I would love to round up my friends and meet up for a fun Friday night!

I passed by a Culver's in Fulshear. They have some vocal fans on TexAgs.

How about a Culver's?

A Toby Keith's or Blake Shelton's Ole Red style eatertainment establishment. Listen to live music, enjoy good food and have a few drinks. Maybe even a dance floor, which I believe they have. Our market is ripe for something like that.

Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill was signed for the mall but it never opened. Just as well, their other 30(?) locations or so all closed from not paying rent.

He passed away so maybe that has something to do with it. RIP. The pics are Ole Red.
Nope, they all came and went before he passed. They were run by a company called Boomtown Entertainment (the current locations have different ownership) which was run by a ex-Mafia mobster who was sentenced to five years for fraud after all the restaurants closed.

Saw George Carlin perform a benefit concert for Joe Monroe of WTAW fame at the Hall of Fame back in the day.

I now live in the In N Out sphere and agree that it's bad. The fries are the worst of any fast food burger place.

A good brewery/outdoor bar space that is also kid friendly (or restaurants that are more kid friendly like a hat creek). We moved here from the Austin area and miss that most.

Yep, it amazing how many singers, actors and sports stars have tied their name to businesses and expect everyone to flock to it regardless of the quality/price offering. It even happened here in BCS. People may go once, but the key to success is repeats and referrals.

I would really love something like a YMCA or a conference center. Maybe some really nice little league ball parks. On the other hand, our own nuclear power generation plant would be pretty neat.

I think an indoor Tennis complex would be great. Perhaps one of the cities could partner with A&M to make that happen.

We have a retro arcade.

NerdVana Vintage Arcade & Toys

I think more things for teens to do. Race track, bumper boats, etc.

Lately the palace in Bryan has been hosting more live music so please support it.

Just out of town Deeproots Vineyard has an amazing outdoor place with live music most every weekend. Less than 30 minute drive.

There is another one out that way as well that is nice as well but the name is escaping me after a busy monday at work.

I really don't know how successful they were (or not) since they got locked out for not paying rent, the owner was literally a criminal.

At least it wasn't Toby Keith himself that was the one who ran off with the money.

I would love a Dave and Busters style place. I think the college student's parent's money could help keep it open.

Isn't Shulman's going to be a very similar concept?

From their website:

With opening planned for mid-2025, this will be MBG's largest facility yet. Featuring the movies, bowling, arcade, restaurant & bar you've come to know and love from MBG, as well as some exciting new additions!

SMBG Bryan will also include a second level for 21+ with bowling, dining, Only Sons Brewery, and a balcony overlooking the beautiful lake in Midtown Park.

Another new addition is The Grove, featuring an outdoor amphitheater for live music and outdoor movies, yard games such as giant Jenga, cornhole, shuffleboard, lawn darts, and more, plus indoor and outdoor Pickleball courts!
