Tia Juanita's Fish Camp. there are several locations and I think the market here would be good for it.

This place is so good. Went to the one in Henderson of all places and was blown away. It's a cross between Mexican and seafood. Seafood enchiladas were amazing!

I'll add a big Middle Eastern mart along the lines of Phoenicia, or an Asian food mart like H Mart.

Grocery with healthy options. I hit Whole Foods anytime I head down to Houston since HEB/Kroger can't quite provide. Also, why is it so hard to buy raw milk around here?

I've had people on the west coast ask me about Santa's wonderland. I didn't know it was that popular. They should convert it to Halloween town before Christmas. College kids love Halloween.

He tried doing a bluegrass jamboree a few years ago and it was a colossal flop. I think that he's staying in his own lane now.
He tried the St. Nicks across the road and it didn't go over too well.

Also, between going 24/7 from Thanksgiving to New Years and maintenace year around, I suspect they have their hands full and make a sxxxload of money.

He bought the Jockey Lot across the road that I bet was at a premium price.

All krogers are garbage, but what does H-E-B not have that you want?

From my perspective, the HEB stores in BCS seem to struggle with variety across all departments, and I think it's especially noticeable in the produce, seafood, and meat departments. The variety and freshness doesn't come close to the stores I shopped at in Houston before we moved. I also regularly shopped at Central Market and Whole Foods before I moved, and I am now in the habit of taking a cooler with me whenever we go to Houston.

I think the BCS area is big enough to support our own HEB distribution center. It would help a lot if our stores weren't stocked out of a Houston distribution center. Maybe with the new store being built out near Miramont that's something that will happen.

Is there a Fadis coming to town?

Dimasis which is similar but all you can eat. Assuming the service is decent and prices not outrageous its about the most slam dunk business there can be for this town.

I was just kidding, lived in Houston for several years. Fadi's was the preferred place, Dimasis was more of the golden coral of the Mediterranean restaurants in my opinion, but I would go there every once in a while.

The H-E-B stores really depend on who manages the fresh department. Jones Crossing when it opened didn't have as good produce as the original Holleman store but shaped up quickly. If you think all the Houston stores are better than the College Station stores then you probably haven't had much experience with many Houston H-E-B stores. Kroger in College Station/Bryan doesn't have many stores to compare to (only two) but at least they have common stuff that H-E-B won't carry like Welch's grape juice.

The Bryan-College Station area will never have a distribution center/division of its own unless it gains two dozen more stores at the minimum. For the record, the divisions of H-E-B include Border (about 47 stores), Central Texas (Austin--58), Gulf Coast (Corpus Christi, Victoria, etc.--about 30), Houston (about 100 stores), San Antonio (about 60), North West (40 stores--basically anything north, including Waco-Temple-Killeen, Dallas), the Central Market stores (a little more than a dozen), and Mexico (60 stores).

In regards to raw milk, it's basically farm sales only (with a proper permit); retail sales aren't allowed.

I didn't realize the distribution divisions were that big.

I shopped primarily at Fountainview or Bunker Hill, with regular trips to Central Market and Whole Foods.

Well, there you have it, the big H-E-B stores in areas wealthier than College Station I would expect to be better.

The big, 100% grape juice bottles? Huh. HEB's website does report it as being there, but it was gone for the longest time.

From what I read, the San Antonio division does have a higher percentage of brand name items than Houston, which has a higher percentage of store brand items. (I'll take Houston, San Antonio there's ONLY H-E-B).

P. Terry's would be good. It would blow the Whataburger on Wellborn out of the water.

Have eaten twice now at PT and disappointed both times. Austin and the new Richmond location (which was just terrible) . To each his own though!
I had that exact opinion after two visits.

Nothing will blow the whataburger on wellborn out of the water. It's one of the top five stores in the nation and number 1 sometimes.

Haha well there is no whataburger that's fast that's for sure.

Last I heard they were doing $125-$150k/week in sales.

Lol just had it in Katy today. So so good and fulfilling

My only complaint is their desserts are just terrible. Not sure how you screw baklava up. But I don't think anyone is going for their desserts.
