Woke me up. I thought that a tree had come through the roof.

Anyone get major damage?

Collected some chunks measuring about 3/4" south of Wellborn right after storm.

Golf ball-sized near University/Highway 6. Gutters are toast. Roof* probably toast as well.

*I am not a licensed roofer and this does not constitute roofing advice.

First hail storm like that as a home owner. House is about 2 years old. Necessary to get roof inspected after that?

Sounded like someone was dumping truckloads of balls onto the flat part of my roof. Glad I've been too busy to start a garden.

Newer roofs are much more resilient to hail than older ones. Doesn't mean you don't have damage; just means you need to be careful about what you're told.

I have gone with my insurance co recommendation as to company to do inspection. Used a firm familiar to them about 6ys ago and had no problems when the adjuster came out. Even though 3/4" hail apparentlydoes not trigger 'must have' I'll contact my agent to be on the safe side and have documentation.

The buzzards will be circling. Fair warning. If you have your roof inspected, they ARE GOING TO FIND DAMAGE AND ARE GOING TO TELL YOU IT NEEDS REPLACED. If you didn't get golfballs or larger, its likely cosmetic. The severity of the damage and your personal financial and insurance situation should dictate if you go through with it. If you're able, go up on the roof with them. If not, ask them for pics of the worst damage. I'd wager 90% of roofs that get replaced after a storm only have cosmetic damage. Yes it could slightly shorten the life of your roof. But unless it actually broke through and cracked shingles, it's not going to start leaking next week or next year or even next decade.

My baby veggie plants appear unharmed near TP HEB. We're garage people for the cars.

I have a friend staying at the Hilton, though, and their back windshield got blown out and side mirrors broken. We only had pea-to-quarter size here.

That's bull and it's an insult to honest roofing companies.

Stellar Roofing
United Roofing
Schulte Roofing

I've used all three of those to inspect different roofs after storms and I only had a full replacement recommended one time. It was legit because of the roof age and the damage done.

Use a local companies with good BBB ratings and ignore the companies that stick illegal signs in the ground and you'll be fine.

I live out by Wellborn and my roof is 17 years old so I bet it's toast. Guess the insurance company gets a call Monday.

Neighborhood peacock lived through it. Just glad to see him out and about this morning.

got hammered with quarter sized last night. Never made a hail claim before, looks like we'll have to now. Both vehicles substantially damaged.

CG area off of Greens Prairie. A lot of pea to marble sized. Vehicle looks fine this morning - can see the impact splatter but no dents, thankfully. Very loud wake-up call.

We are out of the country but thankfully our insurance agent happened to be in town for the game. We live in Austin's Colony and he got up on our roof and said everything looked good. Said we should have it inspected AFTER the sharks were done in town.

Thanks for this. We slept through it, my vehicle that was outside has no damage, and everything else looks great. I guess those of us down south were spared the worst of it.

TAMU was hit. Leaves and small limbs down (live oaks). SWV pea size, not too bad, some damage closer to Welborn.

One of my buddies came into town for the baseball game. Stayed at a hotel along University near campus....

Needless to say - his wife's car looks like a golf ball and lots of broken/impact craters on the windshield/windows...

20 or so vehicles near the Hilton and Spring Loop area had back windsheld blown out including mine. Major dents as well and front windshield will have to be replaced but is drivable once the back windsheild is fixed

Here's a roof cost replacement reference point for everyone...

I had a roof replaced on one of my rent house this week (Wednesday the 12th). Done by a very reputable company local to here... (occasionally run into them at the Angry Elephant in South CS)

3bed/2bath house - 1300sf + attached garage. 1.5 squares of shingles (asphalt composite shingles).

Cost $10,405 for the roof replacement plus $1,000 exactly for the gutters replaced. Grand total was $11,405.

Hopefully that helps. Happy to pass on the info if anyone needs it.

P.S. I just called USAA to report the hailing incident on my own home (just to be safe mostly) and the claims intake person told me USAA has already ruled this storm a "Catastrophe". So I'm sure we are likely about to be overran with folks selling services. Be careful with whom you engage with.

Lincoln/Francis/Munson.

I'm not home but my neighbor told me my car in the driveway has a broken sunroof, mirror, and the top is obliterated.

I'll get on the roof tomorrow.

Thanks for posting everyone. Very helpful information for those of us that are out of town.

I found out because someone called wanting to inspect my roof. They are fast!

I think Eastgate got it the worst.

Same just got some pea and marble sized hail. 3 vehicles parked outside and no damage to any of them.
Even pea size hail is loud as hell though , woke us all up

T&P for everyone dealing with the hail damage. Literally went through this same scenario yall are dealing with exactly a year ago in Bellville. Roof was destroyed as well as my truck. It was a few grand away from being totaled. My advice for those with vehicle damage take it to the shop ASAP so you can get in line

Just had my first telemarketer call from a roofing company I've never heard of.

I told him that he was pretty fast, it hasn't even been 8 hours since the storm. He said that is slow and didn't hang around to chat, which is fine with me.
