The husband and I went to La Bougainvillea Kitchen & Lounge on Saturday for lunch. WOW! It was so good and we can't wait to go back. Food was tasty and their setup is freaking cool. https://www.labougbcs.com/
Has anyone done any of their events? Looks like a fun date night.
I would go soon. They have reduced their hours of operation to just Fri-Sun. The owner frequently changes her mind about what to do with that space. They had it up for sale not too long ago.

We've been a couple of times. It's very good.
Was in the mood for a bagel this morning while out and about. Decided to check out the NY bagel place at Century Square because it was on my way and ordered an Asiago bagel with chive cream cheese and it was $7.08 before she flipped the pad around for the tip. I never thought I would be too poor for bagels. And yes, I know there are other local spots for a good bagel but it was on my way and had the Asiago bagel I was in the mood for.
That's kinda steep for this town.

I have two college kids of my own here and they don't have $7 bagel money and I'm not subsidizing it for them. It was my fault for not realizing how much of an upcharge it is to get a speciality bagel and a flavored cream cheese. Next time I know better .

Yet, it got sold. And likely eaten with enjoyment.
It was a steep price but clearly I'm worth it. My college kids are going to have to save up their own money for the flavored cream cheese. My pockets aren't that deep.

What is the thinking on the prepaid cards. Problems with tipping?
Seems like if you could get in a jam if someone puts a tip on the card, but there isn't enough to cover it. Also seems like the alternative of pre-approving/holding an amount to cover the tip could get customers upset.
I could also see some back and forth if you only get a partial approval on the prepaid card and then have to go back to the table for additional payment.

I haven't been in about 2 years. I saw the door from Lowes and went to check it out.

Not very good. And it's so irritating when a business passes the credit card processing fee on to the customer.
We need to start a list of restaurants that do this. So far, I have:
Tad's
1860 Italia
Holleman Tavern

I've noticed that Pepe's also does the "3% for credit" thing. I've never seen this much elsewhere, some places have a $5 minimum, but putting a 3% tax for credit and debit gives the impression that the business is running on fumes and literally can't afford the standard credit fee.
Whatever their financial situation is, I'd rather have them raise prices and then give a 3% discount when using cash. It would give the customer the impression that they're saving money, rather than getting ripped off because they happen to use a credit card like everyone else. (Spec's does a 5% discount). I don't understand why more places don't do this, delivery people often get stiffed because the customer thinks the delivery fee and the tip are the same thing.
Leaning Tower Pizza (RIP) used to do "free" delivery and then give a discount for walk-in orders. I thought it worked pretty well since it balanced out in the end.

I had some pretty horrible food at Tad's 3ish years ago and have not even considered going back. It was that bad.
My 3 visits to Tad's in 20 and 21 were so bad I won't ever darken their doors again. Kinda shocked they are still open.

My daughter stopped by Chicken Express for dinner last night and was told they no longer serve biscuits. Only rolls. When were the biscuits discontinued?
It was a corporate decision. Local franchises got no say.
Their rolls were better than their biscuits anyway.

That explains why they didn't ask me biscuit or roll the other day. I didn't really notice other than I didn't have to tell them roll, I just got one.
I guess I'll just have to go to Popeyes and get a real biscuit.

I always found their biscuits to be disappointing.
I love their rolls. I got them for Thanksgiving last year!
