Back to the top as tonight is the Michelin Guide reveal.

My predictions for Dallas are no 2 or 3 star places (although I still maintain Tatsu should be 2 star)

1 Star places are Tatsu, Tei-An, Lucia, Georgie, and Mot Hai Bai (maybe) with one wild card I'm not expecting.

Was it just Tatsu that got one? Austin got the lions share, then Houston, very little DFW representation.

Gemma, Goldees, cattleack, Lucia, Mot Hai Ba, Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen and nonna got Bib Gourmand recognition.

I was way off, Dallas didn't have a great showing. Tatsu is the only DFW spot to earn a star. The other 4 I mentioned all got recommended or bib gourmand.

Ngon having the same designation as Lucia and Mot Hai Ba is a bit of a joke.

Wow lurk this thread sometimes but excited because we made reservations at Tatsu for our anniversary on the 23rd. We watched the Jolly YouTube video of their Michelin star sushi experience and wanted to find the closest thing in Dallas. Didn't know we would actually be able to say it's a Michelin star restaurant! Will report back.

Went to Tatsu about 6 months ago. I was not impressed. I hope y'all have a better experience.

I have been to 2 Michelin three star restaurants- Restaurant Gordon Ramsey and Core, both in London. Texas has a long way to go.

lol well we haven't been anywhere this fancy before so my guess is the bar is lower. Never done true omakase so excited to try it. All reviews I have read are really good so I'm sorry y'all didn't enjoy it but hoping it was a one off experience

My visit to Tatsu blew me away. I've been to one 3 star place, The French Laundry, a couple of two stars and a bunch of one star spots. Tatsu is definitely the best sushi I have ever had and up there with the best overall meal experiences. Chef is great and once you understand the couple of formalities they ask you to follow can be very engaging.

Dallas in particular has a long way to go when it comes to food compared to other big cities in the state and country. Townies always get butt hurt when it gets pointed out but the food scene here is pretty average despite the pomp & circumstance and price point. Good to see Mot Hai Ba getting love, that place can go toe to toe with most places across the country.

I do not disagree, but I do love Ngon for what it is and always surprised on how empty the place often is.

I suppose if a Michelin star is how you judge a restaurant, then dallas has a lot of work. But there are a lot of restaurants serving great food that don't meet the Michelin criteria.

I've been to a few one and two star restaurants, they were way too stuffy and snobby for me.

I'm very pro Dallas, but can also readily acknowledge Houston and Austin have better restaurant scenes than we do.

My wife and I randomly ate at that Knox Bistro in Dallas which is Michelin Recommended. Really good little place.

Looking forward to trying this one in Casa Linda. Madison King spent several years as a musician and working at Twilite Lounge. I remember several years ago talking to her and she told me how she loved cooking more than playing, and had even tried out for Masterchef. Nice to see a local place moving into Casa Linda too, rather than another chain

Between this new spot and Burger Schmurger going in to the old Bar None space there's a couple promising cheaper family restaurants coming to the East Side.

I've heard about Burger Schmurger but never tried it. Glad to hear something is moving into that Bar None spot

Spent Sunday afternoon in Bishop Arts and took a class on making gin at Lucky Gin Bar. This place is next to Oddfellows and opened in the summer. Really fun experience and a great date night idea. They have a classroom with about a dozen individual copper stills, talk you through the base ingredients, then leave it up to you to select your flavoring ingredients. When you are finished you walk out with about a 750ml bottle of your recipe.

Yay, another burger spot in East Dallas.

I'll remain cautiously optimistic, but I won't hold my breath.

At least they're replacing that overpriced ****-hole.

At least Burger Schmurger looks like it is not frozen patties like most other "elite and incredible" burger hot spots in Dallas.

Burger schmurger is pretty good. Had it at a pop up at vector brewing and got it on UberEats one time. They are pretty seared / crisped up smash burgers.

Garnered a lot of attention as best burger in Dallas over the last couple of years.

I'm friends with the owner of Schmurger. Really good dude. Hopefully the restaurant business doesn't chew him up. He's tough, but man, it's a rough world

I think schmurger will do well. It's had a lot of good press. I've gotten them delivered a couple of times and it travels well despite me being a ways away from high fives in lake highlands. They do some good pop ups as well. Looking forward to it.

A burger spot that makes real burgers (not frozen in a box) and hand cut fries? I will be there. I bet it is great and I am looking forward to trying it. Glad to see the ownership group using their pull to get pub for it. Brandon is a good dude.

Speaking of burgers, I didn't learn until today that Maple & Motor had opened a second location at Preston & Belt Line. Apparently back in November 2024?

Yep. It's good too. And they don't hate on kids as much as the original location.

I went there about 2 weeks after it opened... been there twice now... giant burgers ... and their onion rings are most worthy.

My favorite though is road-side burger place (a converted caravan/mobile home) w/ picnic tables outside... Kelly Family Farms in Parker.

Grass-fed beef burgers!

Nice -- I actually have to head up to Plano today for work, so I'll head up there early and check them out for lunch. Looks like they sell individual cuts as well.

As an aside, I heard a story on Dayne's BBQ in Aledo a couple of weeks ago, since they are projected to be high up on the upcoming Texas Monthly list of best BBQ joints. So I headed out there Friday afternoon for a field trip and it did not disappoint -- tried the brisket, beef sausage, potato salad and an apple kolache (and their sliced bread is made from the same kolache dough). No wait at 3pm - for now.

Tomorrow is the last day for Meddlesome Moth. Sad day for the Dallas beer scene. I don't go as much as I used to now that I live on the other side of town, but not many better places to discover and enjoy top quality beers with awesome food.
