I know plain old Pizza-Pizza. I know Chicago-Pizza. I know NYC-Pizza. WTF is "Detroit-Pizza"?

Just ask the staff, it's an off the menu item. Detroit pizza is very similar to Sicilian pizza, it's a the latest pizza trend up on the east coast and mid west. There are differences between the two. Whatever gets the people in right? Great spot in Austin that makes it and a bunch of spots in nyc.True Anomaly said:In looking at pics from Alfonso's, I'm not seeing something that looks like Detroit-style pizza. Is there some place in Dallas to get Detroit-style pizza? It's a dragon I've been chasing for yearsKanyes psychiatrist said:
Haven't been to district 9. Alphonso's is very good, Detroit style pizza is damn good. El Vecino is really good too. Good food neighborhood along with the spots on Peavy.
Yes there are differences. Sauce, cheeses, etc. good info about the differences online.GarlandAg2012 said:
I'm all for places doing whatever it takes to get people in the door and I actually love the idea of a city like Detroit claiming ownership of Sicilian style...but what are the differences?
Online, like, say, on a discussion forum?Kanyes psychiatrist said:Yes there are differences. Sauce, cheeses, etc. good info about the differences online.GarlandAg2012 said:

Yes. Been there a few times and really enjoyed it. I'm sure I'm going to be informed that place sucks and there are 30 better spots shortly.True Anomaly said:Kanyes psychiatrist said:Just ask the staff, it's an off the menu item. Via 313 in Austin? I've gotten pizza drunk there on several occasions
It's called Harris House of Heroes and it's a restaurant and bar owned by former Ag football players Rod and De'Vante Harris. I'm not so sure about the name, but I'm hoping it turns in to a good Aggie game watching spot next fall.mavsfan4ever said:
What's the new Aggie owned bar that's opening up by the Loon? My wife drove by the other day and said they had a sign up about an Aggie owned bar opening soon. Not sure if it's a sports bar or not.
Bummer. We're hosting Christmas this year and I planned to watch the bowl game there if its just too chaotic at the house. I guess Shady's or Taco Joint would work in a pinch...Ol Jock 99 said:
Not really a big loss, but Go 4 It Sports (NWH and Plano, but Kroger) was getting cleaned out this morning, including taking the big signs down.

I read that a sports bar chain from Plano or McKinney is taking over the spot. Will probably still have the same poker, UFC, and clientele. Not my thing but if it is, there's that.
Not to get off topic, but I find Taco Joint to be maybe the most overrated place around. Not good.tysker said:Bummer. The alambre at La Banqueta may be one of the best meals you can eat in Dallas.FTAco07 said:
Also agreed. We used to get breakfast tacos from Taco Joint, but Torchy's and Taco Deli have replaced it in our office and they are so much better.
I try and stick to La Banqueta, Tacos y Mas, and El Come for my lunch and dinner taco needs.
Tacos Y Mas breakfast tacos/burritos are legit too.FTAco07 said:

That place has good pastor as well.mavsfan4ever said:
Best breakfast tacos and burritos are the taco shop in the beer and wine convenience store off of southwestern and Greenville. Their lunch/dinner is really good as well. Wish they had a drive thru. I don't go very much because of that.

At the intersection of Southwestern and Greenville, on the eastern side of Greenville. Powerbelly is right, it's the Quikway beer and wine store.GarlandAg2012 said:
