While The Ticket is very strong for it's demographic, I think it's still barely Top 10 in total audience for it's DMA. I forget exactly where it ranks.

According to the ratings quoted about 4 posts up, it's 13th in the market overall.

I think you might be a little confused. Ranger65 is Dr. Gates.

I doubt they purposefully hold themselves to the #13 position as there are way too many variables into getting that position. If a station above them stumbles then they naturally move up. If a station below them changes formats to a larger audience then the The Ticket moves down.

There's no way they can game the system to stay at 13.

Rhynes said last week their marching orders are to be #1 in the market for males age 25-54. The station management doesn't care about anything else as they simply want to own that segment and that's how they should broadcast.

I'm sure station management would love to be higher in the total market while holding on to that coveted demographic as they could earn more revenue.

I still want more information on the Ranger65 scandal.

He was reading and posting on TexAgs under the name Ranger65 while he was at A&M. He would occasionally give insight into the administration, pretending to be a source close to the situation. I think it was pretty soon after he accepted the Sec. of Defense position when he revealed his identity to us all. There wasn't any scandal to it. He's posted a couple times since, once after the Fresno State game maybe? I know it was after a football game that we barely won, he commented that he didn't need any additional stress, or something. I'm sure someone else out there has more info on it.

Just to add on that a little - there was nothing scandalous about his time on TexAgs. He said that he used TexAgs as another way to get opinions from current and former students. One issue in particular I can remember that he talked about was his opposition to an A&M vs. Tech football series in Dallas. He would give insight into things like that and other topics while acting like he was a very well-informed source in the administration or that he had a source that gave him good info. He was never shady or misleading people as far as I know. If you pay for stars, you can still look up his posts, I'm sure.

I like the ebrake. Sometimes the candidates aren't that great...but it's another chance to bring up some tense/awkward moments from the last few days. It usually has at least a couple votes that give me a chuckle.

As for the Hardline, so far, I think KScott is my choice for the one to fill the open spot. Everyone else that has come in has just made it sound like they are special guests and they feel so cool to be there...and they try to work in some Ticketisms to try and fit in. KScott just kinda blends in like he belongs there and doesn't try to force anything. Today isn't a great example because Corby isn't there....but if they were all there together on a daily basis, I'd be ok with that. Just my two cents...

yeah, i worded that wrong. ebrake doesnt actually BRING us anything. it is just a highlight segment. i guess i just meant i love it b/c on things like that barb promos, they replay them again on friday morning in case you missed it that week.

and i still giggle everytime someone calls in with a 'vaginal slice born born' or 'canonball dunham.' the one's that anger george crack me up.

This whole Rock90/WreckedEm thing is pretty pathetic.

there's a more obscure George-y nickname that always makes me laugh. It comes up like 4-5 times a year. It's like Backdoor Georgio, or B.C. Georgio or something like that. I always forget it afterwards, but when I hear it, I roll.

A simple point that you can't invalidate every criticism of the station just because it won the Marconi. If the station believes that it is now flawless because of this win, I think that would be a mistake. The latest ratings numbers really bear that out.

Look, I hope they do get better. I am not a day 1 P1, but I am a year 1 P1. I want them to be as good or better than they once were. If they stand pat, I don't think they will be.

Fair enough, and well said. The Marconi shouldn't give anyone "cover" to spare listeners to death. I threw it in there as a joke early on. And even if mediocre at times, it's still pretty damn good radio. Stay hard.

I'll give Rhadigan a chance. But he's more of a glorified Pete Stein than a Greggo replacement.
