The reason they can add drops with out missing a beat.. is because they actually have a time delay before it is played on air. This is ample time to add a drop or dump a word/phrase. There actually is a degree of time to find an appropriate drop.

Yes and no. There is a 7 second delay for dumps, but the drops are played real time with the converstations because the radio host hear them as well. If they dropped them in during the delay the hosts would not hear them. That is way the host ask if something got dumped when they ask for it, because they cannot hear anything that is altered during the delay, that only goes out over the air.

I pretty sure you're right, Eric. The hosts laugh at the drops all the time. They can't hear the delay. Therefore, the drops are played real time.
If you have been in studio for a broadcast, you can easily hear the drops in real time.

Drops are in real-time. That's one reason why Grubes gets so much credit.
