Only cursory commentary about the Ags this morning. I wish I could go back and listen to how they covered the Texas @ Florida game and see what they said about the Gators then compared to how quickly they brushed over our game this week.

All they were talking about this morning on The Ticket and The Fan was tu. Didn't hear anything about the Ags.

No mention of A&M in the segment with McElroy. Got a full breakdown of Alabama and Missouri.

Lots of talk about Ole Miss, Penn State, Missouri and Indiana. You know they would be talking about A&M if the team had lost to Florida.

No news is good news. We should've beaten Florida.

exactly. if we take care of business on saturday, we'll get another 5 seconds combined between mcelroy/jones/klatt. if we lose, they'll spend 10 minutes on it.

just the way it is. "it's lonely at the top" as they say

I dont really mind it much following the Red River Shootout. That's a huge game with huge fans, George is a closeted Longhorn and Junior loves OU. Makes sense.

What irritates me is the comments like "A&M handles Florida" like they're Oregon State or something, when last week I bet the conversation was much different, both heading into the game and coming out of it. Then Junior said he thinks Tech looks like the better team, "but I think A&M has done it against probably better competition."

I like flying under the radar but the lack of coverage is still ridiculous at the same time. It's a team in Texas and one of the largest alumni bases in the country. And oh by the way the team is ranked 4.

Not much of a surprise, and maybe that's what this entire conversation has been about, but it's not necessarily the guests that aren't wanting to talk about A&M. The Ticket boys refuse to even open the door to allow the conversation to happen.

ETA: or perhaps it's local vs national and he can't get away with avoiding talking about A&M on SECN, but does what he wants on his side gigs.

It's definitely not McElroy being averse to talking about A&M. From his October 13th podcast, that he does most days by himself:
"Another week and another dominant performance from Ohio St, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech…these three here are my favorites…like just watching Ohio St, watching Texas Tech, watching Texas A&M, I have had such joy watching those games that these teams have played these last couple of weeks."

He later speaks glowingly about A&M.

Expecting much A&M talk on the Ticket the week after Red River is silly.

Exactly. You have Junior who went to OU, Corby who went to OU, and Mclearin who went to Texas. How could you expect ANY A&M talk at all?

Wait...None of them went to those schools?

Not to disrupt the discussion surrounding the lack of Aggie Football talk on The Ticket, which I agree is total BS, but did Craig say doing the Ironman was the dumbest thing he's ever done?

It was a throw away line on some discussion yesterday but I swear I heard him say that.

Seemed really odd as he once talked about it and how proud he was.

It's a pretty massive accomplishment.

I think it was during the book review of climbing whatever Peak.

yes. he did say that. can't remember if he said dumbest or craziest.

having done an ironman (nbd...), i don't know if i'd call it dumb, but in the moment, it's pretty miserable. i do look back on it as an accomplishment.

just craig being craig

It was in the O-Deck when Gordon was talking about a marathon in Denver where you have to stop at 9 Taco Bell locations along the route and eat something at each one. Craig talked like it was a simple task and he could do it tomorrow. But he did say that the Ironman was one of the dumbest things he's ever done.

The Taco Bell race is 31 miles and given the time limit of 11 hours, I think most generally healthy people could walk 31 miles in 11 hours. Comes out to around 21 min/mile if you are just walking.

Not sure what race you are referring to, but a true Ironman, which Junior completed, is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a 26.2 mile run.

For like 1 year. Then pretty sure he ended up at UNT with the rest of them.

Also anytime "Is Tech or A&M better?" comes up, I've yet to hear a ticket host or guest say "A&M"

Where did Dave lane go to school or what's his affiliation with Alabama. I would say he's the most vocal about his distain for A&M. What's his angle?

Not sure on the A&M stuff but I'm pretty sure he's married to Kenny Stabler's daughter. He played at Bama. He also mentions doing Raiders stuff from time to time and that's part of it as well.

He's married to stabler's daughter or granddaughter so he has to be a bama fan now. He went to UNT. He irrationally hates A&M bc his ex wife went A&M and for other dumb reasons no one knows. Its ridiculous.
