I love a good Houston board thread bump. From lurking the last 5-7 years or so, sounds like this place was much more of an online community back before you olds all got families and had to quite being a degenerate on the regular. Makes sense to me since back in late 2000s this would have been way more important online before mass social media etc that I got hit with during my undergrad timeframe.
Anyhow, I'm prob about 12-15 years younger than most of you regular posters. Hit up Washington and Midtown a ton fresh out of school in early/mid 2010s, and can say I had never heard of Pearl until now.
Washington has seen its heyday unfortunately. As has midtown.
I'm surprised there isn't any super old balls who used to hit up the Richmond drag back in the '90s here!

Sorry for the novel, just enjoy Houston history/development/all that **** and I like hearing you alls perspective being in a different generation.
Oh, we're here. But, I first hit up the Richmond Strip when I was a freshman & sophomore at Rice circa 1995/96 and the fall of 96. We didn't have to worry about fake IDs because fellow football players were often bouncers at places like The Daquiri Factory and Sam's Boat. We also hit the Gingerman and of course the Marquis. Kay's & Under the Volcano were big hits too.
I also have vague memories of World Bait (I think that was the name). IIRC, it was in the little Shepherd/Greenbriar/Richmond triangle where Stag's Head (RIP) used to be. I don't recall if the Davenport or McElroy's were there in the mid-90s but they definitely were regular spots when I returned to Houston in 2003 after a couple years on the East Coast after I graduated from A&M.
