Love it!

Got my daughter the Mission to Pluto, so now we "match" too...

LOL, I would have spent hours getting the two watch times synced up exactly.

Very nice though!

I was really close to using my Root Beer funds to pull the trigger on one of these. Thought with just getting married and the year I've had financially, this might be my last chance for a while to put this much into one watch. But the fact that a $20K Holy Trinity watch doesn't have hacking seconds was something I couldn't get over. Plus I think I have my eye on an integrated sports watch that'll tick all those little silly semantic boxes that some of us enthusiasts obsess over, and allow me to get a couple other pieces too.

Instead I'm going to break the Root Beer funds up over two or three watches to round back out the collection. This one was a was first one to pick up. It's been on my wish list for years and my wife loves it too.

So this morning after we exchanged all our gifts to each other, she noticed one more package back in the back with different wrapping paper and a different style bow. (I had my secretary write the label from Santa to us.) I think I got her to about a 30% chance in her mind that it wasn't actually me that left it there (her parents or a friend maybe).

It's on her wrist today. Great thing about this watch is their quick change link and bracelet system that will make it easy for either of us to resize it or swap out the bracelet depending on who wants to wear it that day.

Swapped the bracelet for a nylon strap on the Nomos. I like it a lot better this way.

I haven't worn a digital watch in probably twenty years, but bought one of the Baseballism/G-Shock collabs a few weeks ago. Love the scorebook pattern.

Beautiful choice for the wifey!

Question.. What is it about the hacking seconds that makes you rethink the VC? That's one watch on my list too (if I can get over the 42mm case size), which is why I'm curious.

Hacking seconds are in $100 watches as well as high end watches so that's never been a make or break feature for me… but tbh never thought much about it.

For myself, non-hacking seems lame. I want to be able to set my watch to the second. I'll also never own a two-hander for that reason.

When I set my watch, I set it (as close as possible) to the exact second. Spending 20k on a watch that can't be set to the precise second would be a big turnoff. I get it.

^This^

Even though I know the best Grand Seiko high beat movement isn't going to be as accurate as my phone - I like to get as close as I can.

I do enjoy my ritual of hacking at :00, waiting for the atomic clock to meet there and clicking in the crown at the right moment.

In the same way somebody might like to have a manual wind Speedy just for the opportunity to have a little more connection and opportunity to interact with the timepiece, hacking seconds is a little feature that I personally value more than it's actually worth.

The movement is about as pretty as you can find in a sports watch, but what's signaling to me that it's a good one if I can't ever even set it accurately?
