I was really close to using my Root Beer funds to pull the trigger on one of these. Thought with just getting married and the year I've had financially, this might be my last chance for a while to put this much into one watch. But the fact that a $20K Holy Trinity watch doesn't have hacking seconds was something I couldn't get over. Plus I think I have my eye on an integrated sports watch that'll tick all those little silly semantic boxes that some of us enthusiasts obsess over, and allow me to get a couple other pieces too.
Instead I'm going to break the Root Beer funds up over two or three watches to round back out the collection. This one was a was first one to pick up. It's been on my wish list for years
and my wife loves it too.
So this morning after we exchanged all our gifts to each other, she noticed one more package back in the back with different wrapping paper and a different style bow. (I had my secretary write the label from Santa to us.) I think I got her to about a 30% chance in her mind that it wasn't actually me that left it there (her parents or a friend maybe).
It's on her wrist today. Great thing about this watch is their quick change link and bracelet system that will make it easy for either of us to resize it or swap out the bracelet depending on who wants to wear it that day.
