Covid was nothing for us in comparison. I think crazy strains of RSV and other daycare bugs are going around right now.

Went to the HEB at Waugh and Washington today for the first time in over a month due spending the majority of that time back in Lee County.

There were only 10 folks, self included, not wearing a mask. I find it fascinating regarding the dichotomy between the city and the country. When I'm back in LeeCo, I forget that covid exists.

This mask business has been one huge psyop to normalize facial coverings like China has done for years so that when they take over, it will won't sting as much.

Along with turning murderers loose to murder again, you've also normalized the removal of individuality.

Additionally I heard at least three bingo wing-waving, glitter ball cap-wearing suburban women talking loudly about how so-and-so won't be at any NYE gatherings because so-and-so and their brood were exposed to Covid.

JFC, I swear it is becoming a macabre badge of honor to proclaim you know someone who is imposing a household quarantine due to Covid.

The grocery store dynamic is interesting. You go out to bars or restaurants and hardly see any masks. You go buy bread and eggs, and see all kinds of face diapers. Even in the same neighborhoods.

Well genius, that's because you don't catch covid if you're sitting down and eating/drinking. Anyone with a brain knows covid is an ambush predator that strikes while you're walking along unsuspectingly. Go be a knuckle dragger somewhere else. This thread is for scholars only.

Something like 20 young teenagers and their parents all wearing masks today at the gym for swim practice. Some of them were running around the track screwing around with their masks on. I weep for those children and loathe their parents.

Yes, it's dumb as hell. But I roll my eyes every time I hear something like "I weep for those children" who's parents make them wear masks.

C'mon man. There are kids out there not knowing where their next meal is coming from, who's parents are taking their Covid unemployment money and doing crack in front of them, kids who's parents were leaving them at home alone when schools were closed, hell, we had kids living with their dead sibling in the ****ing closet. But we weep for kids who's parents make them wear a mask when they take them to a nice restaurant or to a gym or playground? Yes, it's dumb, but those kids have way more than a leg up on others and will be just fine.

Its very obviously hyperbole because no one is actually crying, come on man, but both crackhead kids and kids with hypochondriac covid crazy parents can all be screwed up to varying degrees. Just because I feel bad for kids whose parents force them to wear masks or worse, doesn't mean that I dont feel terrible for kids with drug addicts for parents. This is a thread about covid and the fallout from that locally, not about crack babies.

Sure. But you've made several comments about it. From obviously hyperbole about weeping for them to more serious comments about worrying about their future. My point still stands. Is it stupid? Yes. But the fact is these kids generally are going to be setup for more successful lives than most. Will they be snowflakes? Probably. But that has nothing to do with a damn mask.

When I see kids wearing masks I just roll my eyes and go on with my life. Same as I roll my eyes when you post about it.

Not surprised seeing this in Montrose. I try not to venture off to the city too much, but when I do, the mask are typically 50+%...

In my hood, I would be surprised if there is even a mask to be found anywhere

The whole restaurant deal still gets me on how it kind of reprogrammed a part of society and their thinking. Back probably 9 months ago, I had coworkers that I felt were very smart as well as logical folks stand in our lobby as four of us left the office for lunch suggest we really should all four drive separately to the restaurant. I questioned this and even said something about all masking up on the ride over if they wanted and that didn't seem to phase them until I almost had to do an illustration with chalk on the driveway. We would be sitting a little 4 top table for an hour, unmasked, talking and laughing and you think the ride over is high risk? Two hour before this we would be unmasked in a conference room together and everyone was a-ok with that. Mind numbing.

Saw a guy at Del Frisco's in The Woodlands sitting at the bar - by himself - last night with no one sitting on either side of him down the entire bar, and he was wearing a mask.

There were 4 of us at dinner, and we had the exact same conversation about how it seems all these people are waiting in line for hours for a covid test just so they can get their "I tested positive" merit badge.

The dumb news stories about the testing last night are mind numbing.

Had a big on the scene deal about opening Delmar again with snaking huge line, then end it saying it doesn't open til 10am and that the site is closed Friday & Saturday for New Years.

Let's set it up, gotta test folks! …but we're taking off to get hammered and get those countS WAY up next week.

I went to yoga with the gf last week and it was packed in the tiny room, 55 people they said. You bet over half walked in and out with their mask on but during the hour of yoga that mask was just laying on the floor as we were all about a foot apart in there breathing and sweating…. It was hilarious.

I've got a legit sinus infection that I get a couple times a year. Not terrible but annoying. Head feels like a balloon has been inflated inside it and I'm snorting green crap out of my nose. I get to the little quack shack I typically hit because my real doc is in the med center. Anyway, I get here about 5 minutes before they opened and there was a line 15 deep. I look at the sign-in sheet and they're all here for Covid tests. I heard 4 people say they've had no symptoms but been around people who had it and want to test.

Damnit, I just want the normal antibiotic & steroid shots and my z-pack.
