If they canceled the Houston Marathon, they will have a bunch of pissed off runners that have trained for months to do it (me included!). Plus, it's outside with some of the healthiest people possible, sooooo….

But, that goes against the agenda of normalizing socialized medicine. Progressive politicians will now point back and say, "didn't you like it when all this was free?"
Nevermind the fact that somehow the Fed became the distributor of the best treatment, monoclonal antibodies, and they rationed them to the point of a shortage. But they don't like to talk about that.

They won't cancel it. They'll just go virtual again. Because, ya know that's the exact same.
Are they actually considering doing something with the marathon? That is a good way to get a large portion of the city pissed off
I haven't heard anything, but also wouldn't be surprised. I mean they did cancel it last year and I did IMTX which was cancelled like 4 times before finally occurring. IMTX has way less participants over more space than the Houston Marathon.gougler08 said:

But not sure I'd say "large portion." I'd say most people don't give a crap about the marathon or are actually annoyed by it because it closes roads.
Cancelling a marathon but allowing full houses at Toyota Center is some real galaxy brain stuff. Would expect nothing less from Dora and Sly.
Still waiting to get in as people continue to pour in to get tested. It seems folks are asymptomatic though, just by listening to conversations.

They ran The Woodlands Marathon in March. Canceling Houston would multiply the angst. And jack up the number of entries for their next race in 3 months.
I could see the expo being cancelled but not the marathon maybe.
Just tried to get a Covid test at Minute Maid park. Hundreds of cars snaked around the parking lot. Made an appointment too. Just drove away
Thanks to asymptomatic people lining up to be tested it took 3.5 hours to see the doc so I could get my sinus & double ear-infection verified, get my antibiotic and steroid shot, and scrips called in.

I honestly dont understand the fear and crazy behavior this time around. I really dont. We are about to enter year 2 of this and people are still amping themselves up to be this terrified. So bizarre.
Gotta get that + to get some time off of work, provide social media post material, and get out of general life responsibilities for a week.
Youd think there would be more maskless people at HEB just now then trying to catch it. Haha. But nope Heights HEB was verrrry special this afternoon and absolutely packed.

Waiting 3 hours on Christmas morning with 2 young kids? Yes, I'd say they deserve the shaming.
How selfish of us to just go from doing Christmas at home, straight to my parents' house that afternoon without a 3hr stop to test in between. The kids showed no signs of being sick at all so I thought it would be ok.

If they're spending 3 hours on Christmas morning to get kids tested who have no symptoms one can assume with a great degree of certainty that the parents and grandparents are vaccinated. Thus, testing of those with no symptoms makes no sense whatsoever.
