Those bars on this little strip and especially Preslee's were some of the first to drop mask rules so they got my business right away. Plenty in my hood support them because of that alone as it was a topic of discussion months back on my street. That one twitter reply that was something like "this is a progressive neighborhood" cracked me up. Yeah once you get to TC Jester the hood gets real mixed, real fast in Timbergrove.

So the Christmas party I hosted was a super spreader event.
12 people were at the house, 5 eventually became symptomatic.
Mom - above 65 - Triple Pfizer - Probably got it the worst. Chills, cough, stuffed up head.
Brother/wife - Both would be considered over weight- Double vaxxed - Mild flu symptoms
My Son - 5 yr old- No vax - fever for about 12 hours...has some linger cough but otherwise fine.
Wife's Aunt - No vax and healthiest of the group - achy/cough for a day before recovering. She was the only one following the FLCCC guidance.
So the moral of this story is that my son and wife's aunt are not vaxxed, but would be the healthiest of the 5 and had the least amount of symptoms.

Went to Austin (Kalahari is epic) and San Antonio for 4 days this week. Amazed at the lack of masks in general, truly felt like life is getting back to normal. Did SeaWorld, the Alamo, bunch of restaurants. Loved it.

I also forgot to mention that my triple vaxxed mother went and visited my older brother and his family for a couple hours and he came down with the covid too. He was certainly double if not triple vaxxed.

My district reinstated the mask policy for return on Monday. Really destroyed what little morale I have left.

I'm curious as well. I either missed or forgot that it had been overturned for about three weeks before being reinstated on appeal December 1st. Unless something else happened, I don't see how they have the authority to do any such thing.
We start at the school in our hood this week and if they try it I'll be throwing about a big a fit as one can. We were at an 'independent' school last semester and it wasn't really an issue. Following the local ISD it doesn't seem like they have been too crazy though.
I did some quick googling and Austin and Round Rock ISDs look to be imposing masks. This is moronic. I have yet to see anything that indicates Omicron is more of a worry for anything other than transmissibility. Hell, I wonder if Omicron was the original version whether or not anything would have ever been shutdown.

After Biden's "no federal solution" comment, we move to focusing on deaths and hospitalizations and because treatments are better, there's fewer deaths, and Biden claims that as a victory.
Calling my shot that "cases" don't make headlines anymore. Businesses get told by CDC to focus on hospitalizations instead and we're back to normal a few months before midterms.
We contributed to that number this week. It's been a nothing burger. Might as well have been a common cold…maybe we should start tracking that across the city.
And we're still Code Orange. Hospitals haven't blown up.
Cases are skyrocketing around the world and so far deaths aren't following as they did during other peaks. This really should be the variant that gets us out of this

Times I thought covid was going to taper off and was wrong.
Part of me wants to agree with you. The other part recognizes that absolutely anything is possible.
At this point nothing would shock me.
