In my opinion, Dear Leader coming out and saying that there's nothing he can do is a bad look, and was probably totally unscripted. He needs a win. They've got 9 months to make an impact before mid-terms. If they don't shift to deaths being reduced, albeit via therapy and treatment that they were/are largely against and publicly ridiculed, they're only digging their holes deeper.
Mail in ballots can only help so much...they've got to find a W somewhere, and fast.

the order has meant exactly **** all year. HISD has been demanding masks the whole time.
Have they? I didn't realize they were requiring them. We're in Clear Creek ISD and they ditched it pretty quick.

More circumstantial evidence that this nonsense I've had since the 22nd is Covid.
My MIL's husband just popped positive for Covid. He started getting sick right about 5 days after Christmas Eve/Day when we were all together. MIL is getting nose raped today. Don't know when her results will be in. It's been more than a cold for them too, but no hospitalizations on the horizon at the moment, and their health is fairly poor.
BUT, FIL and his wife don't seem to have anything and we saw them the same two days. Soooo, I dunno.
I'm so ready for this **** to be over. I was at least well enough to go for a bike ride with a group yesterday, but anything above a base cruising pace, and I didn't have the energy to go. Still congested today and still have a mild headache. If this has been Covid, I can't help but wonder if the vaxx I took in April of 2021 had that negative efficacy effect F16 has been talking about lately. This has royally sucked. I'm on day 11 of being at least a bit sick.

My oldest son's private school is back with the masking. That was the last straw with that school. Already submitted an application for a new school that is openly against that nonsense.

I'm guessing all of us that haven't had Covid recently and are sending kids back to school tomorrow will be getting it shortly.
Our house has the Covid. The kids had a day or two of low grade fevers and fatigue starting Tuesday. Both back to normal today.
The Mrs. and I have flu like symptoms on day 3. 100deg fevers, congestion with drainage, cough, fatigue, aches and chills. Pulse ox was a little low yesterday, but back up today.

Hard to say. I got the vid in early December and my wife never caught it from me. 4 weeks later she got it from someone at her work and I never got it from her for round 2.

Wife and daughter had positive tests but my rapid test came back negative. Generally felt a bit tired / congested so may have ended up getting it but I wasn't going to stand in some crazy ass line to find out

I actually think you're already seeing Omicron giving politicians an off-ramp to some of the craziness of the last couple of years given that it's symptoms are so mild. Even Fauci of all people has talked about how there's no need for schools and business to close, etc. Of course there will probably still be people wearing masks for a few years solely for virtue signaling purposes but I think this is more or less over by the summer, mostly so that dems can try and say they were the ones that beat Covid, etc. before the elections.

Yep. Nevermind that when omicron "hit" we had testing shortages, artificial restraints on monoclonal antibody availability, just a few thousand doses of Paxlovid (which is already running into distribution issues), and mass worker shortages in healthcare due to vaccine mandates supported and enabled by Biden.
So much self inflicted bs that the administration completely skates on. And when they start telling us biden beat covid the proles will eat it up and ask for more.
I think the narrative is slowly changing about the lethality of COVID. Stats haven't changed and since there's a solid year of data before the 'vaccines' became available, I bet the impact of the jab isn't going to be much different than our uncontrolled year.

I think we're pretty much already there. Certainly seems we will be once omicron fully displaces delta. Just about everyone is going to either have or have had covid by end of February IMO. I read the R0 for omicron is estimated somewhere between chickenpox and measles. If it was doing anything before, the "6 feet, mask up, wash hands" strategy isn't going to do anything with a virus that contagious. Even N95 masks aren't going to help the general population because no one will wear them correctly or change them as they move between setting (not to mention constantly fidget with them while wearing them.)
There's an entire generation of children who are being completely left behind and will have no discernable education. Especially those from poor communities. It is simply increasing the dependent class of people. Almost certainly one of the goals of this whole charade.
In TX parents had the option of sending their kids to school. While there was a lot of anxiety over potential bad outcomes, they didn't happen. Yes they were outbreaks but most of them were traced to off-campus events.
One of the most telling things: no teachers died in the Katy system (to my knowledge) due to an infection contracted at school. It's hoped that students who stayed at home had the resources to continue to learn. But it's very telling, they did not. And this is in a 'rich' system where there was in-learning opportunities.
Now I can't imagine how bad it'll be in states that had 100% at home. Single parent household, esp on the low income scale, would have had no opportunities to keep their kids engaged when they're home alone.

most people i know are showing positive on home tests. Imagine data is even messier than prior waves given availability of at home tests.
