That burger is great.
AgCPA95 said:IMO it is definitely the loser of that restaurant group. If you are ever stuck there for some work or other required get together, order the burger which is really good or if you insist on getting BBQ get it on the baked potato so you can bury it in the rest of those toppingsIDaggie06 said:911sAg said:
Papas isn't bad rather eat that then wait in line for hours like a dumbass for bbq
I'm by no means a bbq expert but the three times I've had Pappas, the meat was terrible.

Speaking of, I hear that Hungry Farmer has taken over the old Thomas BBQ spot on 610 & Ella. Never had Hungry Farmer, but I imagine it has to be an improvement.
Say it isn't so.TAM85 said:
I heard Pinkerton's is a tu NIL sponsor.

I've wondered about that one and several other spots that aren't super well reviewed or talked about. Anyone ever been to the any of the following?
- Brisket & Rice (529 & Eldridge)
- Gabby's (Heights)
- Pizzitola's
- J-BAR-M (Eado)
- Aunt Pookie's (BW8 near 10)
- Demeris (pretty sure they're more known for catering?)

Come to Baytown. Mediocre is the gold standard.

I like JBarM - solid food, live music, nice bar - makes for a nice evening with the wife
Pizzatola's - used to eat there quite a bit, always about the ribs - it's been awhile since my last visit, seems like the owner had maybe played for Bellard or Wilson?

Most of those are B grade or worse.
Pizzitolas-long time place, but quality has fallen.
Aun Pookies is TERRIBLe
Ias that Gabby's the old chain?
Demeris-ok, but more of a chain
JBarM have not been to.

Demeris might be the worst BBQ I've had in Houston

Demeris is terrible. They mainly cater to the lunch crowd. Parking lot is crowded at lunch but barely nothing at dinner
Pinkerton's owner, Grant Pinkerton, is a sip

Three-way race to the bottom between Demeris, Dickey's, and Spring Creek IMHO.

Do you really not go to top places in town to eat because it's owned/ran/started by someone that graduated from Texas?
Might be reading that wrong. If you are saying that in reference to the NIL post, then carry on.
If the first point is true, just wow.

I did that one time when I was in town for a convention and remembered all the SA kids at A&M talking about it. These were the same people who were excited about Rudy's coming to CS, and when I was not overly impressed by Rudy's, they said Bill Williams was the real place locals went to. Not sure if I got "clowned," as the kids say.
Its a DFW based place. That town will turn anything into a chain of mediocre spots.Mose Schrute said:TarponChaser said:Diggity said:

Spring Creek is a horrible excuse for bbq. Can't understand how they have a chain a restaurants that manage to stay open.

Yes it was in reference to the NIL. I love Pinkerton's bbq. Their candy ribs are my favorite in town. And I love going on Thursdays for $2 Lone Star tall boys. Their bartender is really cool
