Hit up Pizzitola's for lunch today. I had my standard base line of brisket and sausage with a couple of sides.
I had Roegel's yesterday and I don't think they compare.
It was good BBQ as a whole but I'd put it in the second tier as I don't think it compares to Roegel's, Truth, Pit Room, and Pinkerton's. Those are my best in Houston since I'm mostly ITL.
It really reminded me of Luling City Market more than anything as there seemed to be a ton of regulars that frequent the place. Thats not a bad thing.
I do planning on going back and trying some of the other items like the pit smoked burger, brisket enchiladas, BBQ fajitas, and BBQ biscuit.
I also need to give the ribs a go as that seems like their speciality for BBQ. I saw two tables order them as appetizers right when they sat down.
I have to baseline every new place with brisket and sausage though. It's been a decade since I've been so wanted to start fresh.
That whole area right there is unique with old school restaurants like Cadillac Bar, Jax, and Pizzitola's. I know it's a Saltgrass now but even that place still feels like Hoffbrau other than the name.
Still feels like when I moved to Houston in 98.
