With you except for the last part.

Petro chem guys can certainly be kooky, but I don't think this fella was in the line of work.

Yeah, I was hesitant to post anything until it was confirmed it was the same dude.

Profile getting erased was the confirmation unfortunately.

Was reported that car came from the Wal Mart Parking lot from an eyewitness.

Now, Police are saying car veered off Spencer Hwy thru a chain link fence. And, Ex-Wife claims he had been having seizures recently.

Video from a dashcam shows a reflection from a window of a local business.

Google map street view from the Wal Mart parking lot shows a very poorly maintained barbed wire fence,

So, which is it?

Quote:

While the fire is still under investigation, authorities already said McEvoy's vehicle veered off Spencer Highway, drove through a chain-link gate, and slammed into the valve. The blast and fire immediately sent neighbors living a street over out of their homes, and days later, they returned to melted vehicles, siding, and water damage from fire crews hosing down the dwellings.

There has to be more video.

Doesn't smell right at all...

I mean the video was pretty clear the car was on the road before crashing into the valve.

Maybe in Walmart parking lot before that, but was definitely appears to be at speed on the road based on the dash cam.

Eh, it's perspective.

Those are various quotes from random people. They don't always see things correctly, or they're just stupid and don't see them correctly.

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on it.

Not everything is a conspiracy. It's far more likely that somebody either had a medical episode of some kind or was even a suicidal crazy person than some sort of planned attack.

Well drunk driving could be considered a sort of medical episode I guess. I mean, they would be physically impaired and we've all seen evidence of drunk drivers in crazy wrecks.

Or maybe journalists in general are not good at their jobs (concisely communicating facts) and the answer is both.

You can go on google earth street view in the walmart parking lot and see there is a barbwire fence on the edge of the pipeline right of way just outside the edge of the parking lot.

There are plenty of high resolution videos of the pipeline fire where you can clearly see the Energy Transfer valve station is surrounded by a chain link fence which is a pretty typical security measure for keeping nosey people from doing stupid things.

From those same videos of the active fire, you can see the portions of said chain link fence that are damaged which support the theory the vehicle entered the right of way from the walmart parking lot, proceeded WSW across the right of way, went through Energy Transfer's chain link fence, and severed the north most, above ground valve. The car then came to rest just south of the chain link fence area.

It would be difficult at best to come off Spencer, travel north to the ET valve station (missing the other nearby valve stations completely), go through the ET fence hitting two adjacent sides nearly in opposite corners, hit the north valve, and end up back on the south side of the valve station.

Also, if the driver did have a medical episode, it is within the realm of possibility that he fell onto the accelerator when the vehicle hit the edge of the parking lot as the car bounced over the curb, through the hedges boardering the parking lot, and across any elevation changes from the parking lot to the pipeline right of way.

The probability of a driver having a medical event, veering out of a parking lot, traveling over 100 yards, and nailing an above ground pipeline valve is extremely low. But if you live long enough, you get to see a certain number of extremely low probability events first hand because sometimes seemingly random events do occur.

I looked at google satellite as well and came to the same conclusions.

Somebody said the video of a reflection from a dash cam proved it came from Spencer. It doesn't.

Either reporter made a mistake, or the police made a mistake. Or, they're covering something up.

What difference it would make, I can't tell ya...

Any detective will tell you that eye witness testimony is about the worst testimony you can get. People see things and their brain tells them what they want to see, or often they modify what they think they saw over a long period of time.

Basically, people are unreliable for the most part to accurately describe events with a reasonable degree of accuracy.

I saw an accident happen over the weekend where I honestly thought the car flipped but when I watched the dashcam footage it merely skidded on two wheels. Parts of it were blocked by other cars so my brain filled in the rest. Eyewitness could certainly be wrong.
