Head out early and park in Astroworld. Tram will drop you off and you can walk right into the carnival area
No, I can't see those from home. These were traditional skywriters leaving a message in smoke. After 5:30 or so Friday afternoon.TXAG 05 said:Jugstore Cowboy said:
Any of yall know what the skywriters were for?
I was a few miles away and the clouds kept breaking up before I could make them out. I think I got "cost" on one of the passes.
Do you mean the drone show? The do them every Saturday and Sunday night.
He's touring with Leon Bridges. They'll be at the Woodlands in September with Dave Alvin and Jimmy Dale Gilmore opening.El Gallo Blanco said:Diggity said:it was a great show. I don't think he has enough recognition for a venue like that, but he's a great performer.AustinCountyAg said:
curious if anyone went to the charley crockett performance and how was it?
Just discovered this guy thanks to this thread…I would not be surprised if he is a much bigger draw in years to come. He's definitely got a unique style and sound but comes across as genuine.

I love his music, however IMHO, not a large venue entertainer
He is on my playlist for my daily walk along with Sturgill Simpson, Del McCoury and Son Volt to name a few

tha'st great news for scholarships and all the money the rodeo provides and I'm sure the vendors had a good payday which is important as well.
But honestly, it's not great news for enjoyment of the rodeo and grounds. I know I'm old, but damn there are way too many people out there every day to make it enjoyable to walk around. It's a mass of humanity.
I think my strategy next year will be to get to the NRG Arena for the ranch rodeo and horse shows. Seems to be the place with the most manageable crowds.
Serious goods, yes. Urban cowboy goods, no.Bucketrunner said:
It's been years since I rode in the QH horse shows there, even before NRG, but the shopping around the arena was top notch. Is that still true?
Haven't we already paid for the abatement? Put the carnival in there and kids can go rain or shine. At least split it. between inside and out. Put all the selfie stations outside so they don't back up people trying to walk through.CW Griswold said:MAROON said:

It would be awesome if a stadium shaped footprint in the middle of the property could be used for something other than a back wall for the wine garden. Might be able to spread things out more.

Why do you think Paisley will be the penultimate* performance?
*I just learned that penultimate means second to last, and not like, really good or pretty near perfect.

Post put on a great show. First time to the Houston rodeo. I was really impressed with how well something with so many moving pieces was run. Good job H town.
any of you HLSR bigwigs know this guy? Sounds like a real POSQuote:
Galvan, operating as a high-end contractor under MWG Ventures LLC dba MGB Builders, fraudulently obtained over $2.8 million from at least six private investors. In some cases, Galvan found future victims when he volunteered as a vice president of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR).

I'm in the market for any 2026 season tickets in the 100s or 300s level.
I'll happily pay full cost paid, plus an extra amount per seat. Ideally looking for 2 or 4 seats. I doubt I'll be able to get any good seats when they go on sale in August, so if you don't need yours for next year let me know!
I'd also be okay if you want to keep some shows and sell me the rest, we'll just have to figure out an amount if we do it that way.
