This thing is a complete joke for the Houston area.

This is exactly why you don't cancel school Monday on the preceding Thursday like my kids school did.

I get more time with my kids than probably 90% of parents that aren't SAHMs. Canceling school unnecessarily has a much larger impact on people than just allowing them more time with their kids. There is absolutely no reason they couldn't have made the decision to cancel today.

It's no use trying to explain this concept to people that love shutting down for no reason. It's just covid mentality for inclement weather.

Every state overreacts extremely to unfamiliar weather.

WHhen I was a kid, we went to South Dakota one summer to visit my mom's family. It got up to 86 one day and they acted like the world was ending. My great uncle and aunt had to turn the AC on in their home for the first time ever.

If there's a risk the roads are going to be icy, you're saving millions in damage and probably several lives by closing **** down. One day out of 365 isn't going to doom the human race.

It's about as much use as explaining to parents all the crap that goes into closing/ not closing schools besides just setting an alarm the morning and getting their spawn up and dressed.

There's parents *****ing some schools decided to close on Friday and others *****ing some schools hadn't announced if they were closing by Sunday. People who ***** are going to ***** regardless. It's who they are.

Id assume a decent amount of those have kids at home because of school closures don't have much choice….

If it's icy and schools call it late that creates other issues... It's kind of a no win situation and people will ***** either way.
