Most the area schools cancelled any sports or rec games this weekend. I'm sure most of the districts turned water off to the building and drain the lines down. During the '21 freeze a ton of districts had pipes burst and flood schools. If Sunday is going to be iced over it will be hard to get all the schools water back on for class on Monday. It's smart to cancel it in case it is bad. They have weather days built into the school schedules.

Yep. **** is about to hit the fan out here in central Texas, and then Houston gets a turn tonight.
I remember the good old days of getting dropped off at school only to find out the closure decision was made sometime that morning and less than half the school had shown up. So we would sit there waiting to find out if our parents could come back to get us. Sometimes the teachers would go ahead and have class, so we went thru the motions knowing that everyone else was home watching cartoons.

The Karen's are why CFISD broke. They caved in to pressure on social media. The Karen mommies wanted their babies to be "safe". B/tch, if you don't want your snowflake leaving the house when it is cold you can just keep them home. You don't have to demand an entire district capitulate to your fear.
Back in my day we'd have to get 3'+ of snow overnight to close the schools as the plows couldn't keep up.
My senior year of HS had such epic snow fall we didnt have a 5 day school week for 3.5 months. Seniors graduated on time and everyone else had to attend 2 extra weeks to make up for all the snow days. My younger siblings were so pissed off.

I don't understand all the hate and ridicule on this thread. I get that it's TexAgs and full of just ****ty posters, but why do people care if others don't feel comfortable out and about in the upcoming weather? My boat gets to the dock at 0400 and from what I am seeing there shouldn't be any freezing yet that would preclude me from driving out to the Golden triangle unless I am missing something.

Exactly! We stopped by the store today just for our normal grocery run and, in my hood at least, it was just a normal Saturday. Got home and put freeze misers on the spigots and drained the sprinkler system. We're just hanging out watching TV. I'm not seeing anyone act like anything is going on.

People also "rushed" to the grocery store this week because a lot of people shop on the weekend and didn't want to risk going out at that point. Maybe grocery stores aren't as well prepped for mid-week as they are for weekends? Not saying that people didn't buy more "emergency" products or "essentials" than normal, but what is wrong with being prepared?
As an employee, I want to know in advance if I need to get ready for work on Monday. The sooner a decision is made, the better. I would prefer not to wait until the morning of to find out if I need to make the drive.
