It has been when kids are in MS and HS. These are kids that have been gifted athletically.

The 25% was just an estimate.

Midway, pre 2005, was traditionally an average team, with some good runs/teams sprinkled in. In 2005 some key athletes moved to the district an viola, Midway makes the playoffs and has only missed once since then.

I am just speaking to a contributing factor of Midway's recent success.

I will say that it is not just about these move ins, the coaching has been good during theses successful years as well. Still, the move in kids have definitely helped Midway.

That says nothing about winnig. Based on the expectations and salarly I doubt Belton steals a good coach from someone else.

Mazzag obviously has some sort of issue with Belton. From other post I've seen him comment on, I have the feeling he is from Temple, which explains his disdain for BISD. Belton is NOT a poor schoold district. All you have to do is drive around the area, as well as, look at the Belton schools to know this. All that being said, there is no excuse for a school the size of Belton to not have a competitive football program. I think one of the main reasons has moved on to Huntsville, so we'll find out shortly.

For what its worth, I heard a rumor that Dodge has applied for the job. Again, its a rumor so take it for what its worth. Personally, I don't see it happening. Marble Falls is a beautiful town, and he doesn't have to worry about a second high school opening up in a few years.

Nah. I want Belton to be good in football too. It's good for the community. But it's not a small school any more and shouldn't think like one. Midway has it's own AD as well as Killeen isd, which I realize has many highschools. I can see Belton hiring dodge even though he hasn't been very successful at marble falls. And he's a sip so I don't think he'd be a good hire at all. I just feel that Belton has its' hand out to taxpayers every couple of years because they didn't do it right the couple years previous. They've already toured districts that have had to build two highschools yet just a couple of years ago, people in the know said 2 highschools would not be necessary. Then I heard there would be one team for 2 schools. Now I'm reading in the TDT that having 2 mascots might cause heart aches, but it's necessary.

Heard Dodge applied as well. I dont want to get too much into it but I know Belton has the talent to do good things. Maybe not great things consistently, but Belton is a more talented school than what Southern put on the field.

Again, I'm not talking about state championships

But belton should at least be able to make the playoffs

If you lack team speed, as has been alluded to in this thread, then you better but a salty defense on the field that can stop the run and rush the QB to reduce pressure on your DBs

And you better have a little more ball control/clock control that what Belton had under Southern

It's not just a lack of talent. It's fitting the correct game plan to the talent you have on hand..

Dodge had cooled on Belton. There's a potential job in the metroplex he has his eyes on. Couple of interviews this week. A guy named bell. Young, 31. And a coach from the surrounding area. Superintendent is very involved. Probably her decision. Board has no say.

I don't know. But apparently she gathers all the info she can. And goes over it thoroughly. No details left out.

I really figured Belton would look for a splash hire since moving into the 6A class, but Southern was supposed to be a splash and ended up being a resounding thud.

All Southern did was run off one of the most successful baseball coaches in the state.

Heard the 6 names. Some of interest: Bell, Shipley, Robert Ford, Cameron's coach (blank on name), the Plano west offensive coordinator, and round rock westwoods head coach. Sorry for no names on those last few. Couldn't remember their actual name.
