It's not a losers mindset but it's a cheap one.

I find it rather low brow to use the MSC, and what it stands for, to insinuate that people are somehow not being "good Ags" for calling out the football program for being stuck in a perpetual state of suckage. Don't use those who made the ultimate sacrifice as a prop for scoring points on a football message board.

I miss the days when it was just football and fun to watch.

I mean, I'd rather have our 8 MoH than anything else and superior academics, but winning some conference championships and a few natty here and there would be great. There's no reason why we shouldn't be closer in athletics to tu, I think our administration and BOR get in the way ultimately.

UT simply requires more from their staff and school. Look no further than academics. They want UT to be elite. They've made it more selective. We've made ourselves an institution that "educates all Texans" and less selective. Do you not see the same mindset in how our athletics are run?

We "sharpened iron" in the SEC for over a decade. UT comes in here and beats us in our $500MM home field and played for the SEC championship in their first year. The jokes just write themselves. I just laugh at it all now because if I don't laugh at our pitifulness I'd just get really angry.

Yeah it was all the outside factors that led to the #1 recruiting class of all time to be an epic failure. It was the outside factors that led to us losing to App State. It was the outside factors that led to this year's collapse.

The problem is our culture is built around WWII. I can appreciate what all those Aggies did while still wanting to join the current century.

The problem is our soft AD, not the coaching. We don't have an AD that is in charge. We had a championship coach in Jimbo but we let him do whatever he wanted. A good CEO style of ad would have convinced him to hire a real OC. A good ad would have handled the Nick Saban thing and never allowed Jimbo to go on an embarrassing rant live on camera. A good ad would have told Elko your buddy can't come here and be DC. He sucks and has proven he sucks at it. But we don't have strong ADs. We let our football coaches act like they have the dual role of an AD.

Off of the football field, what specifically about our history as a school makes us anything less than patriotic heroes? Fall asleep in class much? There are other major universities with advertising firms that would eagerly trade for our ability to tell a compelling story. Our leadership's ability to adapt in the sixties is what kept us from becoming The Citadel. We are now one of the largest universities in the entire country. And this is despite our largest rival school banking 2/3 (formerly 3/4) of the oil money from the state PUF every single year, then bragging about it. Our successful alumni base has dead-lifted our endowment to compete with anyone in the country.

Now count the number of major universities who have never won a natty. And realize that the same rival to whom so many are eager to compare didn't win their first until 1969. That might seem like prehistoric times to youngsters; to many of us, it is not. If I had a crystal ball in 1984, I would have happily made the same choice of schools, and what a fun time it was. More fun times are ahead.

Football is fun. Football is not life. The players and coaches come here to win. We have the resources and we will win. Have patience.

The more things change the more they stay the same. We have the same football idiots making football decisions because they write big checks. We get good coaches and players but we don't know how to differentiate between good and great choices. And we do place an emphasis on fit instead of wanting to win.

Our results remind me of Jerry Jones and the cowboys. Jerry always hamstrings his coaches with bad GM decisions and then fires the coach when they don't win.
We need to let the coach coach and get out of the way.

This. I was talking to my BIL at Christmas and said we should never have agreed to play the sips on rivalry weekend and I hate having to play them in the regular season because of our history and how much they cheat. He said every BMA he knows wants the game because it brings in so much money. Apparently, they don't care about the product on the field and only want to cash in. It makes me sick.

yes, part of it is an enabling fan base that treated those guys like they could walk on water, like we do every recruit. Especially when we tell ourselves it's the best recruiting class every year. We got our asses handed to us in recruiting this year, but that's not what the articles say. Our fan base over values players. You think Trey Zuhn is anywhere near getting drafted? No but we're told he's the best lineman ever. Were told Bryce Anderson is this amazing safety, he's one of the biggest liability's on the field. We've had one receiver drafted in the past 6 years, 1 QB, 1 TE, 1 corner, 2 RB's, 2 safeties, 2 LB's… it's pathetic. But we're told every year how our roster is talented.

We were told it was okay to miss out on Kelvin Banks, Landon Jackson, and others. Because of the lower ranked guys we signed we're gonna be better. We're always told everything will be okay and that we have the top guys! Our fan base will put some guys on a pedestal, when no one else across the college football landscape will. We were told all off season how Weigman is the guy, even though prior to this season he had 1 conference win. We were told how Elko came in day 1 and changed the culture, made the team more disciplined, how he made them tougher, faster. Yet this was one of the most penalized undisciplined teams in the country, and one of the softest teams that let other teams run all over them. But don't worry, this off season I'm sure we'll hear how this program is going to get stronger and faster and more united than ever and how it's okay that all our transfers will help us out even though not one of them was productive at their previous school.

Every year Josh Pate will tell you how A&M is a dark horse contender, or one writer out of the thousand across the country will rank A&M in the top ten and well somehow believe it. It's the same thing every single season and off season! We're all mad now, but the team and Aggie media will have us on top of the world come August.

he couldn't get his last program to win 6 games LOL, and aside from volleyball, they were a disaster in every sport. What culture can he bring? No Nebraska fan wants him back and they celebrated him leaving. But like I said, we were told how he's the perfect guy for the job.

like my previous two posts, no reporter challenged that DC hire, no one questioned how his last outing as DC he fielded one of the worst defenses in the country. No one mentioned how at Florida, a team that changed their DC 3 years in a row how he got passed up every time. We were instead told how him at DC under Elko was a match made in heaven and how he had one LB get drafted under him. LOL.

Bingo. The man built an impressive record beating up on cupcakes in a weak, dying conference. Folded against any team with a pulse and was often humiliated against truly good teams.

This idea that you need someone who "gets" A&M is absolutely what holds us back. So threatened by outsiders and change that it's sickening.

We put way too much value on Saturday afternoons at Kyle Field like it's the football version of the movie "Field of Dreams.". Imagine James Earl Jones voiceover as he does his soliloquy on how "people will most definitely come." Pair this with a loyalty of always donating and supporting the team for fear of being labeled a 2%er or a bad Ag, and it's the same old, same old...wash, rinse, repeat.

We are consistently top 5 revenue but the results do not even remotely come close to matching the financial support. The sleeping giant continues to slumber. We are the Dallas Cowboys of collegiate athletics....looks great on paper but the results on the field not so much. Sure we try and we change coaches every 5 years, we build a new stadium, change conferences, and talk endlessly about this or that 5 star recruit (who usually pans out like predecessors). These are all bright shiny objects that are distractions from the root of the problem.

We drink a **** ton of kool-aid in the off-season and convince ourselves that the next season will be different yet the skins on the wall continue to say otherwise. Until the TMF members, the university, the student body, and general fans decide to vote with their feet and wallet, there is zero incentive to do anything else. You start seeing 30k emptys seats on a routine basis and maybe a sense of urgency and purpose will develop within the entire athletic department. Until we are willing to do that, nothing will change.

It's been much, much longer than 3 decades. For nearly all of my 50+ years of following A&M it's been like this.

How would booing help this program? People express their displeasure and disappointment well enough on this site.

Why do you want to lower yourself to win some football games? Is that an adequate trade? You lose your humanity acting like a fool booing everything and cussing out players, coaches and refs in front of your family.

Let's just assume that acting like a jackass will help the team win. So what? You didn't win anything. Some kids with zero prior affiliation with the school, who will leave for more money, did.

We should get rid of the Yell Leaders not because it will change the product on the field…we should do it as they are an embarrassment to the University. Yearly, a joke shared all over the country.

But we could have men in pink leotards prancing on the sideline. IF we had good leadership, we would win at FB. We don't so we don't.

Sharp led us down this damn path. Made us a diploma mill and couldn't keep a president who couldn't keep an AD who couldn't keep a HC.

80k students sounds great when fundraising. Loads us up with cash. But ineptness in presidents rotating office is why we can't keep a competent AD and overpay for bad HFCs. It is even why we paid a record for mismatched talent in 2022. Thugs and bad dudes who didn't shive a git about Texas A&M. Just the next paycheck.

Meanwhile, we have one NC to our name all time and it was before the first CFB game was televised.
