When I went to TAM we won a few more than we lost but Kyle Field was still rockin. We had a blast at midnight yell and at the game. Always enjoyed hearing and watching the FTAB. The game experience was the traditions and being with my close Aggie buddies and having a good time at the game and watching us play … win or lose.
We cherished those times because Vietnam was in full swing and lots of Ags were going over there and there was a thing called a draft. Was not unusual to see someones name on Sully for Silver taps that you might have known that was not making it back.
You had a lot more to worry about than B&Ming about a football game.
While the rest of the country's college kids were turning into "hippies" and protesting all over their campuses Aggieland stayed the course, for the most part, and kept producing leaders and carried on. I was and still am proud of what our school stood for then and now.
When you do your resume for a top position or job and you put down that you graduated from TAM they don't look up the win-loss column of what the football team did to hire you.
Everyone likes to have their team win… but it shouldn't define you….because it really means little as you travel through life.
Trust me. The years will go by in a hurry. Enjoy the journey.
