Look at that Tennessee list of opponents. I may have called it, but it doesn't make it any less weak.

So how much input do the respective schools have regarding who their opponents will be?
Who all if anyone represented A&M in the discussions?
Who made the final decision?

Tennessee doesn't get either Georgia or Florida? That's odd

Really surprised espn allowed the lsu bama annual game to end. Lsu's permanent opponents look really soft for the level of program they have. Also Tennessee's opponents look easy as well.

The first thing I asked myself - does anyone have both Vandy and Kentucky.

Is this even real? I thought this was supposed to come out tomorrow.

Vandy is in the state of TN *check*
Kentucky is a border rival *check*
Alabama is a rival

Two programs have to play Vandy, and Kentucky. Who would you have suggested?

It's interesting how we have the same annual opponents as Arkansas. We are playing all 3 of them on the road this year, but I don't want to play all 3 of them of them on the road every odd year: 2025, 2027, 2029, etc. I am guessing that we will play in Texas in Austin again next year because we played 2 consecutive home games against them in 2011 and 2024. I am willing to make that short term sacrifice to avoid having to play all 3 annual opponents on the road every odd year.

Looks pretty fair. Someone had to have the easiest schedule. I hate to see the lsu bama game is not going to be every year.

Missouri is kind of a lame game for us. But, with our luck I feel the league could've very easily stuck us with MSU also, and put LSU with Alabama. So, could've been worse.

People keep saying this and I don't get it. Unless there are plans to rotate them and why would they since the SEC is saying these games are important to preserve. So these games will be our permanent rivalry games every year. What am I missing?

After LSU and tu the #3 spot was always going to be a crap shoot.
Personally I'm kind of tired of Arky and I wouldn't be surprised if they are tired of us too. Who else would you pick? Miss St & Mizzou are both at the same level of excitement, which is not much.

Mizzou is a boring choice. I honestly would have preferred Arkansas or South Carolina. Nothing about matchups with any former Big 12 foes excites me.

Missouri has a decent program now. They are really underrated, Drinkwitz has show he can go in to the portal and find key pieces every season. The QB and RB they have this year are really good players. This year's game will be a tough one for us on the road.

The purpose of this exercise is to preserve historic rivalries. For people of a certain age we grew up playing Arkansas. The game was so important both schools agreed to play each other every year when we were in different conferences. So yea, despite you being tired of it it's an actual rivalry. Unlike Mizzou who we played for a blink of an eye in the B12.

Honestly, that just makes it worse. Even when they have a good team, you get no credit for beating them, and are overly penalized for losing to them.

" permanent "
Because the conference could expand & Iirc this is a four year arrangement that allows for a complete rotation in the conference and each team
Will play a H&H with everybody
If it works it will be renewed for another 4 years

Yeah I know what you mean. But as long as Drink is there and they keep the NIL flowing Mizzou will be a formidable program. Our other two permanents are LSU and tu so we got one of the tougher draws but moving to 9 games everyone will have brutal schedules. Plenty of opportunities.

This is the correct analysis the third team was almost certainly going to be somebody underwhelming
It was going to be Either Chicken, state or Mizzou

OK sure, but I'm telling you right now they aren't changing this in four years unless there is a conference shakeup. Pretending this is going to rotate is kidding yourself.

Love it. Tired of Arkansas. Tired of SC. Missouri came into the league with us. They were fellow Big 12 rebels. Really glad we didn't get the cheaters as well.

What????? NO

ok. Here is my well thought out case.

We are 10 and 7 Against Missouri all time. 17 games makes a rival not!

We have played 81 games against the hogs.
Hell we have played 30 games against ou.

This is stinky.

I believe Kentucky has been a bigger historical rivalry for Tennessee. They have played 118 times. UT-Fla has been only played 54 times. KY and UT used to play for a traveling trophy the "Beer Barrel" until a player died in a car accident where he was driving drunk.

Well, I am old enough to remember when we played them in Little Rock every road trip. I've got plenty of Arky memories.
I don't think the Arlington game started because of a mutual desire to renew a historic rivalry, but because Jerry wanted an annual Arky game at Jerry World and we were willing. Made sense when we were in the big 12.
One point I will give you though - we've really made a dent in the all time record against them. We're only 6 games behind all time now. Would be nice to take the lead.
Don't take this that I'm pining to play Mizzou. Far from it, they are as "meh" as you get. I'm just not upset that we won't play pig for a few years.
