Almost like distance mattered as they stated it would.

People need to stop calling this 'three permanent rivals'. It's 'three permanent opponents'. The idea is to try to preserve many of the traditional rivalries, but it was never going to be a situation where every team's three opponents are all considered to be traditional rivals.

Mizzou should be Oklahoma Kentucky and Arkansas (Lexington is half the distance to Columbia that CS is and it's a border state and it's Kentucky FB, no one cares who they play)

Tired of getting stuck with these guys and would have taken SC or MSU over them but as always, the SEC screws us over

It's interesting how we have the same annual opponents as Arkansas. We are playing all 3 of them on the road this year, but I don't want to play all 3 of them of them on the road every odd year: 2025, 2027, 2029, etc. I am guessing that we will play in Texas in Austin again next year because we played 2 consecutive home games against them in 2011 and 2024. I am willing to make that short term sacrifice to avoid having to play all 3 annual opponents on the road every odd year.

You realize that the current Home and Away is probably thrown out the window starting next year. We will probably have a team or 2 that we play at home 2 years in a row same with 1 or 2 away games in a row from this year to next year. It will probably be a resetting clean slate like every other time they have had to shuffle the schedule due to realignment or like this time going from 8 to 9 conference games

true, but thats a function of the SEC wanting to give every team their "top choice" for a game. 3 teams consider them their top rival.

SEC is calling them annual opponents.

Would have preferred Bacon bits but at least we got the corndogs.

Tennessee looking like they caught the biggest break in CFB with at least 2 auto wins before the season even starts, maybe 3 if bama keeps going downhill.

Agreed. MSU sounded lame, but better than more Mizzou. However, I am glad to be out of that SCar game. One of the few SEC places I've traveled to that just kinda sucked.

Only for 4 seasons unless this is bogus.

No Clanga
No Fayettenam

Mizzou is fine with both LSU and whorns.

SCar has no one resembling a rival outside of Clemson. You gotta give them somebody.

Yes

Better then getting OU, Texas and either Hogs or Mizzou which they probably looked at.

Kind of like the old SEC East / SEC West, but tu and Oklahoma both in West and Auburn / Alabama moved to the East. Miss St only one with crossover opponents.

The SEC, and other conferences, are too large. Either remove some teams or play more games such that you play everyone in your conference every year. Either start a week or two earlier, have no bye weeks, or finish in December, or some combination of all three. Classes are of no concern, many football players are not actual students anyway.

Actually USCe and Georgia has been a bigger rivalry game with the two schools playing 76 times. While UT-GA has been played only 55 times with most of those coming after 1991. They only played each other 21 times before 1991

And we effectively have two conferences, with two groups. One group is 9 Teams, the other group is 7 teams, and they are only joined by Miss State and Ole Miss.

this is dumb because there are 6 other games each team will play.

It's going to be interesting to see how they split up the other 12 teams for us.

Yeah, It does look like geography played into it. Of course, we are one of the few teams that has to go more than 2 states away. But in all cases it was due to the outlier states of Missouri and Kentucky.

Yeah we will play 3 from the "West" and then there are 9 teams in the "East" and 3 in the "West" left so one year will be 4/2 and the other will be 5/1

So we will have 9 games and play 5 east teams and 4 west in one year and 5 west teams and 4 east teams the other
JJxvi

The East side will play each other more but only because the "East" is bigger

They honestly might as well have brought back West vs East with this set up

SEC West

Arkansas
Louisiana State
Mississippi
Mississippi State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Texas A&M
tu

SEC East

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

LSU vs Alabama basically the only game of note lost

Given the circumstances this was probably the best outcome for everyone as a whole. Everyone got at least 1 or 2 of their choices. Some got 3 but at least I can cheer for Arkansas more often to kick the crap out of tu.

I think they hashed it up when they put us with Carolina. There is no plan and they fail to follow through on their public comments repeatedly.

Texas broke the SEC!!!
