Peyton beat out Brandon Stewart for starting quarterback at UT..

Correct Arch Manning isn't young; he turned 21 last April. He should be a senior but he must have been held back from starting grade school on time plus a redshirt year and that is how you get a 21 year old incoming sophomore.
That said, he has incredible athletic talent but he is lacking the mental part of the game. He just doesn't have 'it'.
His age is irrelevant. What is relevant, is that this is his third year in the horn program and the horns basically ran off Ewers to give him the starting job. Considering this, he is pretty far behind where he should be in terms of development. He did play his best game of the year this weekend so maybe the stars align and he has success but it's easy to tell he is never going to live up to the hype bubble the media created. That was probably impossible. I predict he ends up having a career just like Sims the last Horn prodigal son.

He looked pretty good against us last year
He barely played. He ran in for a TD, and I don't think he attempted a pass.

Seriously--He was pursued by EVERYBODY! Remember how Kiffin rolled out the red carpet? Bama, Georgia, everyone was after this superstar--Who sucks.

Caldwell got in for one play and looked better than Arch did all season
This is my concern. I worry that they may finally bring in the backup and things start clicking right before we play them.

Arch has a lot of talent.

So, if he survives this year mentally he may not be too bad. He does show flashes of good play, but only flashes.
His line doesn't help him, he doesn't have the ability to help identify blitzes to change blocking pre snap. The game is moving too fast at the SEC level right now.
Hopefully, he figures it out just enough to stay on the field - it will benefit the Ags if he does, because I don't think he becomes good enough to take them beyond Outback Bowl appearances.
Swoopes was the brisket that would never heat up. He ended up spending some time in the NFL as a TE.BadMoonRisin said:
Same way they missed with Garret Gilbert and Tyrone Swoopes.
Expectations > reality.
Garrett Gilbert was an NFL QB. Didnt work out at the 40 acres, though.

Arch Manning is Garrett Gilbert 2.0 for t.u. w/ the added weight of the Manning last name.
He'd be wise to transfer out to another school to reset and salvage his college career like Gilbert did to SMU.
Note to future kids: if you are a small school playing against a media hype machine like arch, do NOT be the one that is caught jogging and 5'3". You will be used as joke material years after you have graduated.PhatMack19 said:

Smartest thing he could do would be to transfer. Ole Miss is probably out as an option. UGA and Bama are too big. Maybe UT? No to Miss St. Maybe LSU, but that may depend on who their new coach is after this year.

There isn't a SEC team that would take him. This kind of statement is how they are in this situation to begin with. He's not that good and time folks quit blowing smoke up his a**. Go to Georgia Tech

He has a monster game this weekend. If the horns can pull it together and get a win everything looks better for them. If they lose they go another week without a P4 or SEC win the fan base is going to get restless. There will be loud calls for the backup.
Someone mentioned the fact that if you rank every CFB QB in Texas where does Manning land? As of today he is probably behind the following:
Tech QB
Aggie QB
TCU QB
Houston QB
SMU QB
North Texas QB
Texas St. QB???

That kid was sprinting, thank you very much.
