Arch Manning is the Dan Quisenberry of college football. He clearly went to the Uncle Rico football academy.

Quisenberry was a very good relief pitcher, so no, no he's not.

You guys are falling into a trap. Arch is inexperienced, playing with a bad offensive line and a bad running game, and can't put it together. YET. He will probably work all the kinks out by the time he gets to the end of the season. We would be wise to not underestimate him.

Then again, this is just a message forum. It matters little what we do or think, eh?

Peyton beat out Brandon Stewart for starting quarterback at UT..

True but not exactly how it went down. I was in Knoxville at the time and during Peyton's playing days. He did turn out to be an excellent QB. But he didn't really beat out Stewart to start. Daddy Archie came to town and had a long private talk with the coaching staff. Rumor has it that he made a sizable donation to the program while he was there and while he exerted a lot of verbal pressure on Fulmer. Magically Peyton started the next game. Could just be a coincidence. But it sounds pretty similar to how Archie stepped in when Peyton was up for the NFL draft and Archie announced that Peyton would not play for certain teams if they drafted him.

Caldwell got in for one play and looked better than Arch did all season

This is my concern. I worry that they may finally bring in the backup and things start clicking right before we play them.

If it gets bad enough, I'd bet that they work out a deal behind the scenes to bench him. He'll be shut down for the season due to "injury" to save face. I don't see a scenario where Sark is worried about job security and benches him in the middle of a game like he would any other player that's just not performing.

I'll admit I haven't watched every snap he's taken this year, but his mechanics go to crap at the first sign of pressure. That's on him, because I'm certain they've tried like hell to coach that out of him.

Wheels are turning. Expect this injury to be upgraded before, during, or after the RRR.

Probably has a deal with the family and the NIL people that there has to be a medical reason for benching.

Arrests need to be made.

Sorry, that was meant for the politics board, but somehow it still applies here . . .

Did Sark really think this through before he said it?
https://www.si.com/college/texas/football/steve-sarkisian-issues-challenge-to-college-football-after-florida-loss?utm_source=gol

"I mean, take the other --- how many teams are there in college football, 136?" Sark responded. "Take the other 135 and have them go play at Ohio State and at The Swamp. See how they do."

I was asked after our game last year against the sips if I was thinking "oh boy we have to face this guy the next 3 years!". Answer was not really as we had yet to see if he is the real deal. That is still the case BTW but it's not looking good for him thus far. Their boy last year...mullet guy? They didn't appreciate him nearly enough and they could have had him this year.

I would love for Arch to have success after he transfers. But I have been saying all along that Arch had all the advantages with development and supporting talent in high school and never was very successful. D1 receivers at a small school, physically developed, elite training and coaching. And nothing to show for it. The playing field is now level and he will not suddenly win at a high level.
Hype machine and totally unearned Manning privilege.

Archie will be fine.

He is at a point in his life where he either enjoys playing football, or he doesn't. If he doesn't….he will not over come his current lack of performance and will be miserable.

Or….. now he can just play football for the fun and for the respect of the game. Too much early emphasis of winning the SEC AND THE NC was placed on his head.

Arch continues to sling the football and looks like that throw is causing pain. Something has caused him to start sliding. With Florida, the facial twitching while sitting sidelines looking like the weight of the world is on him. As long as he loves the game he will continue to play.

As for Chris Sims. He came in all #1 ish before any play and was an unnecessary expansion.

Vince Young played poorly his first year plus, then became a legend. Honestly, we don't know how good Arch will be. The whole issue is that high praise is something you earn, not something you inherit.

Vince Young was Big12 offensive freshman of the year. This is Arch's 3rd season at Texas.

Yes, he was a redshirt freshman, and he had a ton of talent around him. His next year in the program, his third, he got shutout by OU, and many people were calling for him to be moved to WR. So, it was right about there, the middle of his 3rd season, fueled by a horrible OPI call and a 4th and 17 scramble against KU, that the legend began to grow. At some point t.u. switched their offense too, and that helped him going to a more spread system because he could just take off whenever he wanted to.

I think you mean the announcements for Eli, not Peyton. They publicly stated that Eli would refuse to play for San Diego if they drafted him with the #1 pick. They did anyway, but had an agreement in place with NYG to trade him for Phillip Rivers and a couple of draft picks.

People now piling on this article clickbait with hyperbole when in fact Arch is still not a good QB.

People suddenly feel bad for the guy making millions in NIL, who shares the blame with an inexperienced, bad OL?

Please. Life is hard. Arch needs to face some adversity if he wants to be successful. Even if he ultimately fails at being a QB, he has become a multi millionaire on NIL alone.

Feeling bad for Arch isn't a crime, but those people are missing the point.

he has had lots of problems and without a doubt has not been a good QB.

But college football's first flop? talk about having no clue about history. he's not even the biggest flop from his own recruiting class.

"synonymous with failure"? that is click bait 101 nonsense. He has not been good and hasn't come close to living up to his billing. but people are now just piling on with silly takes.

I don't feel sorry for him and don't think anyone should

Be real. He absolutely sucked early in the season, but he has looked very good in the latter half of the season. He probably will never live up to the hype he had coming into the season (vitually no one would), but as of now, he deserves to be viewed as a likely top tier QB next year. We weren't great in the game, but we did NOT lose to a bad QB. We lost to a guy who HAS figured things out and was playing well.

Manning deserved all the criticism of his play he got as of when this thread was created. But it was pre-mature to suggest he didn't have talent. It was probably just luck, but CaliforniaAggie510's post early in the thread was spot on. Almost all of the other posts aged very poorly.

Manning had a good game in a meaningless non-CFB bowl game against an average B10 team without its full complement of starters due to opt outs and "injuries" and just fired its HC two weeks ago.

Start up the hype machine again - it'll be another set up to unrealistic expectations only to see them be unmet again.
